What is Summer Coding Club Summer Coding Club is a weeklong experience to learn more about a variety of coding topics and practices like programming, robotics, game design, and more. This club is designed for students who have not yet participated in our previous Coding Club experience. What Students Learn Coding Club is more exploratory than our individual classes as students are given more space to ask questions and try new things. The 2023 Ball State Cheerleading Fall Clinic will be held on Saturday, September 30 at Worthen Arena in Muncie. This article, titled "Normalized Alterity: Visualizing Black Spatial Humanities," explores the need for more inclusive and just visual representations of Black spatial collectivity. It recognizes the potential of digital mapping and narrative cartography in providing radical and democratized visualizations. However, it also acknowledges the historical and contemporary anti-Blackness in mapping, which requires caution. While critical cartographic approaches to eschew normativity are important, there is a risk of diminishing and distorting historically Black communities. Therefore, this article raises questions about the extent to which visually countering the erasure of Black communities in dominant maps can avoid appropriating the medium. To address this issue, the article presents animations created in collaboration with a professional animator. These animations feature audio clips from oral histories collected in rural Southern communities of the US. They effectively counter historic erasure without reinforcing the hegemony of dominant cartographic productions. This thought-provoking article invites readers to engage with the complexities of visualizing Black spatial humanities and encourages a critical examination of the power dynamics inherent in mapping practices.
