Away FOAM 2025 | The Waterfront Venice
Jun 5, 2025 (UTC-7)
City of Los Angeles
Join us for the final FOAM of 2024-25 in Los Angeles on Thursday, June 5th from 2pm - 6pm. Away FOAM is one of GSB's longest-running traditions, and an iconic way to cap off a great year and kick off Dis-O in the sun. Away FOAM tickets include venue entry, open bar (while supplies last!), a DJ, a band, and great vibes.
Tickets:
FOAM Members:
You
must
get a $0 FOAM Member ticket. We need to give the venue a list with your name - just like for Vegas!
Non-FOAM Members:
Early-bird tickets start at $85 and prices will rise on April 4! If you're unsure about your membership status, just ask.
Things to Know:
Timing:
Our event runs 2p-6p on Thursday, but historically lots of folks have come down Wednesday night and / or stayed til the next day to keep the party going in LA. Fly in and out same day or make a trip of it - up to you!
Brunches:
Most people organize pregames & brunches nearby before the event. Make your reservations, just don't be late!
Travel:
Flying into LAX is probably the easiest airport. FOAM won't be organizing accommodations but there are plenty of hotels & Airbnbs in Venice, Santa Monica, etc. nearby for those staying before or after
FAQs
I'm a FOAM member and can't make it. Can I just give a non-member my ticket?
No.
Member tickets are for paid members only, and we will be checking.
I bought a ticket but can't come, can I get a refund?
No.
Tickets are non-refundable,
but
you are free to sell and transfer your ticket to another non-member. Just give us a heads up
I've heard almost all MBA2s & MSx go to kick off Dis-O, but should MBA1s still come? Yes!! The Thursday timing should allow for you to plan around your take-homes / exams.

Practical Ways to Strengthen your GRC Program | 1003 E 4th Pl 8th floor
Jun 18, 2025 (UTC-7)
City of Los Angeles
Come and network with your friends, make new friends, and hear
two
amazing speakers. A buffet dinner will be served and drinks will be available. Free parking!
Topic One:
Practical Ways to Strengthen Your GRC Program
The pendulum has swung to the opposite extreme and it’s time for it to come center. Our IT operations are full of “too much”. Too many tools. Too many unreferenced documents. Too much unmanageable data. Too many confusing controls from too many vague regulations and frameworks. Very few of these things actually align to our real operations. We have created all of this overwhelming noise and meanwhile are losing data at a ridiculously drastic rate.
Let’s stop continuing to do the same things that got us into this mess and expecting different results. This session will bring us all back to best practice governance basics and provide attendees with three very practical recommendations that they can use the very next day.
Speaker One:
Karina Klever
Karina Klever has spent more than 35 years in technology, starting in 1989 as a computer operator. After programming and decades of project/program management, she began focusing on compliance in the early 2000s. Over the next 20 years, Karina would go on to establish GRC Centers of Excellence for Fortune 500 companies.
After years of witnessing compliance being implemented as nothing more than a checkbox exercise, Karina opened her own boutique company, Klever Compliance, to guide midsized companies into establishing governance programs that are appropriate for their particular industry, level of maturity, size, risk posture, and goals. Klever Compliance is tool agnostic and works across industries, maturities, regulations and frameworks. Checkbox compliance leaves gaping security holes, so Karina's approach is to align actual operations to controls, instead of the other way around.
Topic Two:
Cybersecurity and AI: Advancements, Workforce Impact, and Future Challenges
AI isn't just changing cybersecurity—it's completely rewiring the battlefield. This talk exposes the hard truth about autonomous defense systems, AI-powered red teams, and attackers now capable of launching machine-speed campaigns that bypass traditional controls.
We'll tackle the workforce earthquake happening as junior roles vanish and senior positions demand hybrid human-AI skills, while exploring why your sprawling security tool collection creates more vulnerabilities than it solves. Forget vendor hype—this session delivers actionable strategies for navigating the AI cyber arms race while preserving the irreplaceable human expertise that separates security victories from catastrophic failures.
Speaker Two: R
on Dilley
Ron Dilley works at IS2 as a Principal Cyber Security Architect, focusing on fostering innovation and pushing the boundaries of what’s possible in technology to deliver exceptional value for clients. He is also on the IANS Research Faculty. As a cybersecurity innovator, he works with many cross-functional teams to develop novel security solutions and enhance security capabilities that improve customer experiences while frustrating adversaries.
He is a seasoned information security practitioner and thought leader with more than two decades of experience building, implementing, and leading information security practices responsible for the overall security posture and risk management of global companies. He is focused on security innovation, research, and development, and has overseen and revitalized infosec teams and advised on mergers, acquisitions, and divestitures from
an infosec perspective.
He also serves the cyber security community through open-source tools and solutions for real-world security challenges, including current work on stateless TCP (honeypi), the IR Directory Scanner (difftree), Log Templater (tmpltr), SSH Canary (sshcanary), Log Pseudo Indexer (logpi), and Wirespy Daemon (wsd).

.
The History:
In 1967, Lucille Ball sold the Desilu corporation to Gulf+Western, the then parent of Paramount Pictures (Desilu's next door neighbor). The Paramount studios in Hollywood absorbed the Desilu Gower lot to create what is now The Studios at Paramount.
The Night:
Join Lucie and your host, actor/writer/Desilu nut, Raji Ahsan, for a special presentation of Lucie Arnaz & Larry Luckinbill's 1993 Emmy-winning documentary,
Lucy & Desi: A Home Movie
. An exclusive Q&A with Arnaz and Luckinbill will follow.
The Cause:
Proceeds will finish post-production funding for Ahsan's new heartfelt and comedic short film,
Dr. Sam.
Ahsan
stars as Sammy, a struggling musician, and Arnaz cameos as his loving mom, who cautions him to consider his future when his dreams aren't materializing.
Directed by Danielle Beckmann,
Dr. Sam
is about truly believing that you're worth what you want. Sammy's belief in himself spills out onto others causing them to open up to their own inherent worthiness. Attendees will get a first look of an exclusive clip of the film.
Additionally, 10% of the night's proceeds will be donated to The New Life Beginnings Shelter for Women in Long Beach, CA where Ahsan's mother lived for a short time.
Join us on the historic Paramount lot. Walk the grounds of your favorite stars, take a picture in front of the iconic arch and see Lucie Arnaz, one of the two greatest Desilu productions. We hope to see you there!

CCDET I: Clean Truck Check | Los Angeles Trade-Tech College - LATTC
Jun 6, 2025 (UTC-7)
City of Los Angeles
You need CCDET I if you perform:
OBD Testing or SAE J1667 Snap Acceleration Testing and would like hands-on in-person instruction.
This 6-hour course covers the requirements of the California Air Resources Board’s Clean Truck Check regulation, formerly known as Heavy-Duty Inspection and Maintenance (HD I/M). CARB’s Clean Truck Check curriculum and certification exam are available for free online.
This CCDET I: Clean Truck Check course was developed for those who prefer in-person instruction and who would like hands-on instruction in performing the SAE J1667 Snap Acceleration Smoke Test and Onboard Diagnostic Testing. The CCDET I version of Clean Truck check is not free. This in-person class costs $175 and is administered by the California Council on Diesel Education and Technology (CCDET), not directly by CARB.
It is important to note that CARB remains the only credentialing entity for Clean Truck Check. Participants who complete this CCDET I course must still take and pass CARB’s online exam to become Credentialed Testers under the regulation.
