Mam Tor, Great Ridge & Peveril Castle Guided Trail Run Join Finding The Fells for an adventurous trail run by headtorch. This 8 mile loop of Macclesfield Forest is mostly on wide gravel tracks with some shorter stretches that can be muddy. The route has a fair amount of uphill as we'll be going to the top of the forest and then up to the trig at Shutlingsloe so a little experience of hilly runs is advantageous. Running at night can add a totally different experience to a run even if it's a familiar location. Look forward to seeing you there! Ideal for: runners with some experience on trails and capable of running the full distance (this event isn't aimed at beginner runners). Pace will be sociable with plenty of pausing to admire the night atmopshere. Distance & Elevation: 8.2 miles /1,300ft Terrain: Mostly gravel tracks, some dirt/muddy paths, flagstones. Required kit: off road/grippy running shoes essential, along with buff, waterproof jacket, snacks, water and any personal meds and running pack. Extra long sleeve layer and hat/gloves advised. Route description: Parking on the north edge of Ridgegate Reservoir (where Standing Stone Road meets Clarke Lane), we'll meet outside the Leather's Smithy and take the footpath south over the dam and into the woods. We'll follow this southwards as it climbs on wide gravel paths winding round to Nessit Hill and work our way south east to briefly leave the treeline and follow the flagstones up to Shuttlingsloe trig point. From here we'll retrace our steps back into the forest to standing stone car park where we'll turn left alongside the road then turn right (north) and head to Chapel House Farm and briefly join Charity Lane. We'll cut through the forest once more towards Hacked Way Lane then skirt our way round Tegg's Nose to cross Bottoms Reservoir dam then follow Clarke Lane back to the cars. Meeting at 7:00pm for 7:15pm start – Plentiful free layby parking on Standing Stone Road. Meeting outside the Leather's Smithy. The class provides a friendly and relaxed environment for artists to explore their creativity, with tutor Matt Burden (MA Visual Communication, Royal College of Art) offering guidance tailored to each individual's goals. Please note that there is no class every second Tuesday of the month (e.g. June 14th, July 12th, August 9th, etc.). Life drawing, the practice of drawing from the living naked human form, is a valuable way for artists to exercise and develop their skills. It's like going to the gym for artists! The class begins with quick warm-up poses before moving on to longer poses, allowing participants to delve deeper into their artistic exploration. A break is included halfway through the class for sharing and assessing everyone's efforts. All you need to bring to the class is some paper and a pencil or two, although you are welcome to bring additional materials such as charcoal, crayons, or pastels. If you prefer to experiment with something different, feel free to bring it along. However, please remember to bring a dust sheet if you plan to use messy materials. Additionally, you may want to bring a board or easel to lean on, but a sturdy sketchbook will work just fine. Participants can challenge themselves on a 6.5 km loop within the station's trails, featuring a 465-meter elevation gain per loop. There are no strict rules on how to tackle this challenge. Each participant is free to choose their own strategy, whether running, walking, solo, or in a team of up to three people. The goal is to complete the most loops in 6 hours collectively as a team. With partners like Salomon, Mont Sutton, Yamabiko, Xact, and La Cordée, a base camp will be set up at the main chalet for surprises and support throughout the day. Stay hydrated with a water station halfway up the mountain and have a cell phone for emergencies. The day will conclude with a tally of loops to determine the winning team. Whether competing or seeking adventure, the focus is on enjoyment and getting to know the CTS. After the event, a casual gathering provides a perfect opportunity to share experiences, learn more about the Club de Trail Sutton, and celebrate the start of the season over a beer. Join us for a free community hike on the stunning White Sands and Scribbly Gum tracks in Jervis Bay National Park.This easy 2.5 km loop takes you through some of the most scenic parts of Jervis Bay, with gorgeous views, pristine beaches, and lush coastal forests. Date: Saturday 11th January 2025Meeting location: Greenfield Beach Picnic Area, Jervis Bay National ParkMeeting time: 8.30 amDistance: 3-4km approx (we can extend with a walk on Hyams Beach)Finish time: 10.00 am approxWomen Want Adventure guide Tracy will be leading this walk. It’s a wonderful opportunity to meet Tracy and connect with other women in the community. Most attendees come individually and don’t know each other beforehand, so it’s a relaxed and fun way to make new friends with like-minded women while enjoying a beautiful walk together. Parking: This area is a stunning part of the National Park and can get quite busy on weekends or during school holidays. Sutton Life Drawing offers weekly Tuesday classes at Sutton Village Hall in Sutton. Located near Biggleswade, Potton, and Sandy, these classes are suitable for individuals of all skill levels, from beginners to professionals. Led by tutor Matt Burden, who holds an MA in Visual Communication from the Royal College of Art, the classes provide a friendly and relaxed environment for participants to explore their artistic abilities. The classes are designed to be flexible, allowing individuals to work in their preferred direction, whether it be analytical or more expressive. Participants will receive guidance and advice from the tutor based on their individual goals and skill level. The classes run from 7pm to 9pm and are open to individuals aged 18 and above. Please note that there is no class every second Tuesday of the month. To join the class, all you need is some paper and a pencil or two, although you are welcome to bring other art supplies such as charcoal, crayons, or pastels. A dust sheet is required if using materials that may make a mess. Boards or easels can be used for support, but a sturdy sketchbook will suffice. Sutton Life Drawing offers weekly Tuesday classes in Sutton, conveniently located near Biggleswade, Potton, and Sandy. These classes take place from 7-9pm at Sutton Village Hall. Whether you're a novice or a pro, all levels of ability are welcome. The class provides a friendly and relaxed environment where you can work in any direction you choose. With guidance from tutor Matt Burden, who holds an MA in Visual Communication from the Royal College of Art, you can receive personalized advice to help you achieve your artistic goals. The classes are open to adults aged 18 and above, except on the second Tuesday of each month. Please note that there will be no class on June 14th, July 12th, August 9th, etc. Life drawing is an essential exercise for anyone with an artistic impulse. It allows you to develop and enhance your skills, much like going to the gym. The class structure includes both quick warm-up poses and longer poses for deeper exploration. There is also a break in the middle of the class to share and assess your work. To get started, all you need is some paper and a pencil or two. However, you are welcome to bring other materials such as charcoal, crayons, pastels, or anything else that sparks your creativity. If you choose to bring something messy, like paint, please remember to bring a dust sheet to protect the hall. Additionally, you may want to bring a board or easel to lean on, but a sturdy sketchbook will suffice.
