This immensely popular show is unlike any other murder mystery dinner experience. With no cheesy costumes, recited dialogue, or hokey song and dance, guests are fully immersed in a modern-day murder mystery. The performers, dressed just like everyone else, leave guests guessing who is part of the show and who is not. Throughout the evening, the Dinner Detective Detectives interrogate everyone, uncovering clues as the mystery unfolds. At the end of the night, prizes are awarded to the Top Sleuth who solves the crime. The event includes a multicourse meal, featuring appetizers like Deviled Eggs and Bruschetta, a Garden Salad with Rolls, and a choice of entrees such as Chicken Picatta, Salmon Picatta, or Gluten-Free Cheese Tortellini. To top it off, guests can indulge in a delectable Tiramisu dessert. Please note, short lighting blackouts are used as part of the performance. The Dinner Detective is a show for adults, with a minimum age requirement of 15 due to mild adult content, loud noises, and swearing. Business or dressy casual attire is required, and guests are encouraged to participate but not required to perform. The event is not complete without the presence of our hidden actors, who may interact and even interrogate audience members. Amplify Arts invites you to join them for the opening of The Reading Room, the next project in their Generator Series. This thought-provoking exhibition will be held at the Generator Space in Omaha, Nebraska, and will run from January 12th to February 9th, 2024. The opening reception will take place on March 10th from 6pm to 9pm, with live readings by Amanda Huckins, Maritza N. Estrada, Aspen M. Laboy, and Jewel Rodgers starting at 7:30pm.
The Reading Room showcases printed materials that the artists from Amplify’s Alternate Currents program have discussed, considered, and shared with each other throughout the year. The gallery has been transformed into a communal space where visitors can freely engage with the materials, take a moment to rest and reflect, and offer their own perspectives on justice in the arts. The exhibition explores how artists and organizers can align their practices with anti-capitalist orientations and create equitable modes of exchange.
The public opening on January 12th is free and open to all, with no RSVP necessary. However, during the live readings from 7:30pm to 8:30pm, the doors will be closed. Face masks are not required but always welcome. After the public opening, The Reading Room will be open by appointment. To schedule your visit, please register in advance.
