This workshop is part of the Women + Archives' Untold Stories series, developed in collaboration with Manchester Metropolitan University and Greater Manchester Museums. During the workshop, Maisy will share insights into her illustration practice and how she draws inspiration from life and archives. She will discuss her recent project with Hat Works Museum, where she used animation and wallpaper design to retell the story of Elsie Plant, a socialist, suffragette, and birth control activist. No prior drawing experience is necessary to participate in this workshop. Participants will have the opportunity to create their own illustrations based on stories from the museum, guided by Maisy's expertise. The session will include quick drawing prompts and material exploration, with guidance and advice provided throughout. Towards the end of the workshop, all participants will collaborate to create a visually stunning "wallpaper" that combines everyone's work, showcasing the hidden archive stories from Hat Works Museum through illustration and type. This workshop is open to anyone aged 16 years and above. Materials will be provided, but participants are welcome to bring their own.
