Join us for a tour of the new ASU photography area located in the new ASU Gateway Building. The photography area includes state-of-the-art classrooms, photography studios, darkrooms, digital printing and print finishing areas. ASU Photography Program Manager Matthew Brown will be our tour guide and, as a bonus, will give a presentation of his own work. This is an AZPA member’s only event. Mill Ave., Tempe AZ The five-story ASU Gateway Building houses various programs from the Herberger Institute for Design and the Arts including, music, music therapy, art, animation and photography. The facility hosts state-of-the-art dark rooms, creative maker spaces, an e-sports lounge, large computer labs and 3D printing technology. The project also supports sound research, sound labs, stop-motion and motion capture studios. The music department provides acoustically isolated and tuned private practice rooms and larger ensemble practice rooms in the expansion. Brown is an artist, educator and musician from Kingsport, Tennessee. He received his BFA in Studio Art from East Tennessee State University in 2015 and his MFA with distinction from the University of Georgia in 2021. His work has been exhibited internationally and featured in online publications most notably IGNANT, It's Nice That, Oxford American, and HuffPost. Brown has worked assignments for ESPN College Gameday and Fortune and has guest lectured at the International Center for Photography. Brown's work resides in the Archive for Documentary Arts at Duke University.
