Since the emergence of ‘AI for all’ barely two years ago, there has been a proliferation of courses in ‘prompt engineering’. But is it just a matter of engineering, or does interacting with AI actually require creative writing to go beyond the predictable? What does it mean to speak the language of the tool well? And how can we find ways to talk with machines instead of as machines? Come and have a play with textures and ink with a cosy workshop in my new studio 52, 2nd Floor in the Apparatenfabriek Strijp S (full address- Torenallee 26 - Studio 52, 5617 BD Eindhoven). This manual print technique is fun, easy to learn and has lots of possibilities to develop beautiful printed monochromatic images. For this season we’ll be focusing on producing abstract landscapes. Working from landscape photos (feel free to bring your own if you have them) we’ll use a variety of (natural) materials to build the ‘plate’, the base we print from. You’ll receive a printed guide and a folio for taking your prints and plates home. This is an extended 3.5 hour workshop so we can really go in-depth with this versatile process. Please arrive on time so we can start! Join us for an engaging evening in the studio, studying the 'vintage apothecary'-themed display and working on some beautiful botanical studies. Confident Beginner + (18yrs+) For this session we'll be working in a Trompe-l'oeil style (an illusion of 3D) in which I'll be giving my specific techniques. If you have experience with watercolour /art and/or drawing: that's a great headstart, if not: you can still achieve beautiful results, you'll just need to bring your focus and enjoy the challenge! We’ll provide everything for you to learn the basic style under the guidance of illustrator Laura Carter. The display will be set up in a vintage naturalist style, with a choice of dried and fresh botanicals to work from. Whether you work quick and dirty or in careful, tiny detail (see the difference in first and last photos: I've used both!) the techniques can be adapted to your style of art-making. We can also add some coloured pencil for fun and flair. THOMAS JASPERS SOLO Thomas is a young, versatile drummer, who plays in various experimental jazz/improvisation groups. In addition, as a climate activist he takes action against deep sea mining, amongst others, with the grindcore band “The Polymetallic Nodules”. This summer he worked on his solo, using both electronics and acoustic possibilities of the drum kit. Textile art workshop with @textile.memories On the 19th of November from 14:00 - 17:00, Mónica and Javi will host a free textile art workshop as part of our current exhibition Together Tomorrow: Reimagining Everyday Practices. During this workshop, the history of the Arpillera technique that emerged from the textile creation of Chilean artist Violeta Parra Sandoval (1917 - 1967) will be shared and recreated. Violeta worked on the technique of wire printing on jute, creating beautiful textile pieces that speak of her own life and daily rituals in the country. Join us in the exploration of the rich tradition of storytelling through fabric. Dave Gisler enjoys an excellent reputation as an idiosyncratic architect of sound on the electric guitar. With the trio, he presents a dazzling array of possibilities for genre-bending music that is at home in jazz, but also draws on rock, punk and noise. Dave Gisler guitar, Lionel Friedli drums, Raffaele Bossard double bass The trio's first recording, Rabbits on the Run, was released in 2018 on Intakt Records. It laid the track for a musical departure that on the one hand intensified the trio and on the otherhand also expanded it to a quartet or quintet. Since 2019 Dave Gisler, Raffaele Bossard and Lionel Friedli where repeatedly on tour with the US trumpeter jaimie branch. The raw trio sound merges with the lyrical and expressive attacks of the idiosyncratic trumpeter to create atmospherically dense music. 2020 saw the release of the live album Zurich Concert (Intakt Records), which was recorded with jaimie branch as a guest musician at the unerhört!
