Join the Living Museum of Logan and artist Kuweni Dias Mendis in a hands on exploration of earth pigments- from gathering soil to transforming it into paint. Participants will learn to process local earth into pigment, and use the resulting natural paints on both fabric and paper. Activities include: • Gathering Earth Pigments Learn best practices for ethically and safely collecting soil. You’ll be guided in how to document your process through field notes, sketches, and reflective journaling, deepening your connection to place. • Processing Soil into Paint Using traditional cooking tools and slow, mindful techniques, we’ll pound, sieve, and blend soil into usable pigments. This tactile process invites you to connect with texture, colour, and material in a grounded, sensory way. • Painting with Natural Brushes With the freshly made paints, you’ll create works on fabric and paper using your hands. This final step brings together your unique pigment and mark-making language rooted in the land. Riverscope, is a contemporary, place-based multidisciplinary arts project led by artist Kuweni Dias Mendis, that explores themes of belonging, migrant identity, and regeneration. From April to July, Kuweni will be in residence at the Kingston Butter Factory, engaging with the Logan community through a series of creative and sensory experiences. This project is supported by the Regional Arts Development Fund (RADF). RADF is a partnership between the Queensland Government and Logan City Council to support arts and culture in regional Queensland.

Helfisch and Nancy Brown create a new installation at Logan Art Gallery that explores their shared interest in decorative pattern-making to reconcile everyday experiences with art. Be inspired by their work and join the artists’ for a Chine Colle printmaking workshop. Participants will explore combining collage with printmaking, assembling images and printing as monoprints with the etching press.

The Forgotten Carols Musical features breathtaking performances of heartwarming melodies and laugh-out-loud entertainment within a timeless Christmas story. Hear your favorite songs, like “Homeless,” from Michael McLean’s original hit album, sung by incredible musical theater performers. Immerse yourself in the magic of the holiday season as you witness the story of the Forgotten Carols coming to life on stage. Don't miss out on this incredible in-person event that will leave you feeling uplifted and filled with joy. Join us on Saturday, Dec. 7 for shows at 2:30 or 7:30pm in the auditorium at Logan High School! Show Synopsis The Forgotten Carols musical theater stage performance tells the story of Connie Lou, a nurse whose empty life is changed when John, a new patient she is attending, recounts the story of Christ’s birth as told by little known characters in the nativity story. The accounts from the Innkeeper, the Shepherd and others help the nurse discover what the world has forgotten about Christmas, ultimately encouraging her to open her heart to the joy of this special season. Important Venue Specific Information for the Frontier CenterThere are NO elevators in this venue. If you are purchasing tickets in the balcony, you must be able to walk up several flights of stairs to get to the balcony and then walk the stairs to your seat.
