Welcome to Death-Con 2025! Get ready for a day filled with fun challenges that will test your limits. Join us on Saturday, Jun 07, 2025 at 8th Day Gym for an unforgettable experience. This is not your typical CrossFit style competition consisting of a few met-cons scattered throughout the day. Death-Con consists of ONE grueling met-con lasting anywhere from 4-6 hours. Expect to be met with a range of challenges that will test your physical capacities, mental fortitude, and ability to work and function as a team. All aspects of fitness will be used - runs, carries, lifts, body weight movements, cardio machines, odd objects, etc. This is about how much work your team can do, and how long you can sustain it. All fitness levels are welcome as there are no high level CrossFit movements (handstand pushups, muscle ups, heavy lifts, etc) and there are no ability divisions (Rx, scaled, etc). Everyone does the same workout. Whether you're a seasoned athlete or just looking to have some fun, there's something for everyone at Deathcon. All proceeds of this year’s event supports the 2026 Hustle & Heart Scholarship Fund — helping local students achieve their dreams of making in impact in our community. In 2025, we’re awarding $20,000 in scholarships to students, and in 2026, our goal is to double that impact. It’s more than a tournament — it’s a fantastic opportunity to network, have fun, and give back to the community. We can't wait to see you there! BEGINNERS’ BRACKET New to pickleball? No Problem. Join the beginners’ bracket for light instruction followed by fun, low-pressure matches against other new players. This bracket runs at the same time as the competitive tournament. Level 2.5 and below should enjoy and have friendly competition in this bracket. TOURNAMENT PLAY The Hustle & Heart Pickleball Tournament will feature doubles partner play. Sign up with a partner or as a single player to be paired with someone of a similar skill level. Each team will play 6-8 games against others at a matching level. Last year we had players between 2.5-5.0 and did our best to create evenly matched games. Rain or shine, the game goes on! West Michigan Construction Institute is hosting its second annual middle school summer camp. We will be hosting three, 2-day sessions. Middle Schools get the chance to explore the world of construction through activities about the trades. Each camp is the same camp just different dates. Please pick one session. Session 1: June 17th & 18th (8AM - 5PM) Session 2: June 24th & 25th (8AM - 5PM) Temporarily paused- Session 3: July 15th & 16th (8AM - 5PM) WMCI has identified a potential scheduling conflict with this session. Registration is temporarily closed. Please check back for more information in the oncoming weeks. Dress Code Requirements Campers must wear long pants and closed-toed shoes to camp every day. This is a safety requirement when working on a construction site. If your child does not arrive in long pants and closed-toed shoes, they will be sent home to change. Lunch Requirements Students will need to bring their own lunch each day. Lunch will not be provided. Sunscreen Requirements Please apply sunscreen to your child each morning before attending camp. If you’d like them to reapply sunscreen throughout the day, you must send sunscreen with them. WMCI staff are not permitted to provide or apply sunscreen to campers. Medication Requirements If possible, please make sure your child receives their medication before camp each morning. If that is not possible, please bring medication in a Ziploc bag with your child’s name on it and a detailed description of use. Cell Phones Cell phones are permitted at camp, however, they will only be accessible on breaks and lunch. Camp crew leaders will collect phones during activities to ensure a safe camp environment. Discover what it takes to be a crime scene forensic scientist. In this camp, students will study different techniques used to analyze a crime scene, determine who is ultimately responsible for committing different crimes, and participate in hands-on investigations that involve fingerprinting, DNA analysis, and more! Campers will also talk with an actual crime scene forensic scientist to learn more about this exciting career. On the final day of camp, they’ll put their detective skills to the test by solving a crime and naming the perpetrator! Guided Activities Learn how to complete a fingerprinting analysis. Engage in a (simulated) blood typing investigation. Discover how to analyze different powders left behind at the crime scene to determine what they are. Meet with a forensic scientist and learn how to analyze an actual crime scene, while discovering more about that career.
