Immerse yourself in the rich cultural heritage of Olinalá, Mexico, known as the Mexican capital of lacquer. Florencia and Vicente skillfully employ a traditional process passed down through generations, utilizing durable olinaloe and piñon woods sourced from the local region. The artists meticulously grind a special stone found in the hills surrounding Olinalá into a fine dust, which they then combine with chia oil, creating their unique paste-like base coat. The wood is then meticulously adorned with earth pigments using a delicate deer-tail brush. Each lacquer-coated box showcases a mesmerizing luster, transforming it into a true treasure.
