Erik Palmberg Quartet Erik Palmberg - trumpet, flugelhorn Anton Dromberg - piano Niklas Wennström - double bass Sebastian Voegler - drums Erik Palmberg Quartet has gained widespread international attention and acclaim as one of the most interesting and inventive Scandinavian jazz acts today. "In Between" (Prophone 2021) was our last album and it got widespread praise and also won the readers poll for best jazz album "Gyllene Skivan" in Swedens biggest jazz portal Orkesterjournalen. About Erik Palmberg Based in Stockholm, Sweden, educated at the Royal College of Music and Jazz-Institut-Berlin, Erik Palmberg has been playing regularly with his group since the release of their first album, First Lines in 2018. With the release of his second album, In Between, 2021, Erik gained wider recognition both in Sweden but also internationally. In 2022, ”In Between” also won the readers poll for the prestigious Gyllene Skivan award. His sound has been described as deeply rooted in the jazz tradition but with a modern, nordic touch. The music has been described as poetic, emotional, and played with deep seated lyricism. Allaboutjazz 2022: While Palmberg draws from a variety of trumpeters, from Freddie Hubbard and Miles Davis to Tom Harrell and Kenny Wheeler, his own signature sound has now emerged. It is one of crisp articulation on a wide array of note selections, and an innate sense of taking the music in the direction it wants to go. Erik and his group did extensive touring in Sweden 2022-2023. The group played at all the top venues in Sweden and was also featured at The Stockholms Kulturfestival. He also toured in Germany in 2022, playing his music with german musicians. Erik is also a sought-after sideman. In 2020, Erik was featured on the Stockholm Corona Sessions Vol 1, Vol 2 and Vol 3, led by Jazzagenturen, featuring some of the top names in Swedish jazz. He is a member of the jazz group Horncraft, which released the critically acclaimed album, ”Inside Looking Out” in 2023, and he is also a new member of the hard bop group Lexingtone and plays with various groups and constellations such as the newly formed Swedish Radio Jazz Group (led by Nils Landgren) Blue House Jazz Orchestra and others. PRESS: "Erik Palmberg's Faces is a contemporary jazz gem, balancing introspection and vibrancy Each track offers a cinematic mood, showcasing Palmberg's sensitivity and modern tone. A refined, melodic, and deeply emotive listening experience." Matt Groom, Prestomusic, UK "very impressive ..engaging" Nick Lea, Jazzviews, UK : "Almost literary in it´s richness and depth ", highest grade ★★★★★ Paris-Move, France "A great album, we are thrilled !" Join artists Rebecca Livesey-Wright (they/she) and Indra Wilson (they/them) for a relaxed clay workshop and open conversation on experiences of pregnancy and m*therhood. Indra and Rebecca created the online sound piece, ‘Invisible M*ther’ for last year’s Scottish Mental Health Arts Festival commission. Using polyvocal writing techniques, the piece visibilised hidden maternal narratives while preserving anonymity, creating a safe space for both the artists and those adjacent to their stories. This workshop builds on those themes, offering a space to connect through conversation and craft. Guided by working with clay, ‘Embodied M*ther’ explores embodied and difficult-to-verbalise knowledge, drawing on visual motifs from the 2024 commission, including hands and shells, symbols of intimacy and care-ful listening. Invisible M*ther contains references to pregnancy loss, sexual assault, poor mental health, suicide attempts, drug mis/use, breastfeeding, abortion and medical neglect. These themes may also arise in the Embodied M*ther workshop. Indra and Rebecca will work with attendees to co-create parameters for a safe and brave space. No photos will be taken during the workshop (although photos may be taken of the completed piece), and anything shared during the workshop will remain confidential. Delivered by Kinfolk Families as part of the Scottish Mental Health Arts Festival 2025 programme a nd "The Milky Way" at the Gallery of Modern Art. Accessibility & Attendance Information Wheelchair Accessible Audience Restrictions: Women and gender marginalised people, inclusive of trans and non-binary people The use of clay will require use of hands. Artists can assist with softening the clay, but some hand strength is required. Babies and young toddlers welcome, but sensitive topics may be discussed. Bringing children is at the parent/carer's discretion. Our definition of "m*ther" and "m*therhood" is inclusive of people who have not given birth, including step-mthers, non-carrying/birth-giving mthers, people who have experienced pregnancy loss, abortion, or medical neglect.
