Holwell Village Hall in Hitchin presents the Holwell Life Drawing // Long Saturday Session, a monthly 5-hour life drawing event. This session welcomes participants of all skill levels, from beginners to professionals. The class offers a relaxed and friendly environment, allowing individuals to work in their preferred direction, whether it's a more analytical approach or a more expressive one. The session is facilitated by tutor Matt Burden, who holds an MA in Visual Communication from the Royal College of Art. Matt is available to provide guidance and advice tailored to each participant's goals and skill level. This event is open to individuals aged 18 and above. Life drawing, which involves drawing from the living naked human form, is an excellent way for aspiring artists to exercise and enhance their skills. It is often compared to going to the gym for artistic development. The class will begin with some quick warm-up poses before progressing to longer poses, allowing participants to delve deeper into their explorations. Regular breaks will be provided for sharing and assessing efforts. To get started, participants only need to bring some paper and a few pencils. However, they are welcome to experiment with other materials such as charcoal, crayons, pastels, or any other medium that piques their interest. If participants opt for messier materials, it is advisable to bring a dust sheet to protect the hall. Additionally, participants may want to bring something to lean on, such as boards or easels, although a sturdy sketchbook will suffice. Lunch breaks are scheduled, so attendees are encouraged to bring their own food. Complimentary teas and coffees will be provided. For further information, please contact Matt at matthew.burden@network.rca.ac.uk.

Wednesdays 7-9pm - at Holwell Village Hall - near Hitchin, Hertfordshire - SG5 3SS All levels of abilty welcome - from novice to pro. The structure's set up to be fairly loose / generic - so that people can work in whatever direction they choose - be it analytical - or something more expressive - in friendly and relaxed environment - with tutor Matt Burden (MA Visual Communication, Royal College of Art) on hand to offer advice and guidance to people that best suits where they're at, and what they're trying to achieve. Ages 18 and upward. WHAT IS LIFE DRAWING Life drawing - drawings made from the living naked human form - can be an important way for anyone with an artistic impulse to exercise and develop their skills – I've always likened it to the artistic equivalent of going to the gym. It's also really fun. THE CLASS We'll start with some quicker poses to get everyone warmed up, before moving to some longer poses so you have some time to explore in more depth, with a break half way through to share and assess our efforts. WHAT YOU NEED TO BRING All you really need to get going is some paper and a pencil or two - it really can be as simple as that - and there's much to be said for the simplicity of that. However, the world is your oyster - so you may want to consider charcoal, crayons, pastels - or something weird and wonderful if you're up for some experimentation - whatever takes your fancy. If you are thinking of getting really extravagant - ie something that might make a mess - please do remember to bring a dust sheet, as we need to take care of the hall. You may also want something to lean on - boards are great - or easels if that's your thing - though a sturdy sketch book will do just fine in a pinch! If you'd like any more info please email Matt at matthew.burden@network.rca.ac.uk ! https://www.facebook.com/HolwellLifeDrawing Information Source: Holwell Life Drawing | eventbrite
