Founded in 1958 by Sir Neville Marriner, the Academy of St Martin in the Fields has evolved into a musical powerhouse, renowned across the world for as an orchestra committed to the musical freedom of its players and the sharing of ambitious, energetic performances. Our player-led approach empowers every member of the orchestra, creating a direct line and electrifying connection between the orchestra and our audiences, resulting in bold and collaborative performances that transcend a more traditional conductor-led model. Beyond the concert hall, our commitment to a social purpose is evident in impactful projects that harness the power of music to empower people. We have a longstanding history of work which connects with people experiencing homelessness, and our education projects foster autonomy and creativity among young musicians worldwide. Our enduring collaborations with world-renowned soloists is exemplified by our 15-year partnership with Music Director and renowned violinist Joshua Bell. With a rich global legacy, the Academy of St Martin in the Fields remains one of the world’s most-recorded orchestras, igniting a love for classical music in many around the world. Today, we continue a busy international touring programme alongside a significant footprint in the UK – making us one of the country’s most celebrated cultural exports. Just one more exemplary performance from an orchestra which has been exemplary from the start - Boston Globe Impeccably presented with a wonderful camaraderie amongst the members, the responsibility of following a seated Musical Director is spread amongst all. This creates a mutual understanding and collective conscious choice to draw together. The unity feels different to an orchestra that can sit back and rely on a standing conductor. Movement Flow and Floorwork Workshop [Chichester] | Chichester Mad Hatters Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and MMA
Apr 12, 2025 (UTC+0)
Chichester
You will be guided through a variety of fun movement patterns and skills - varying difficulty and plenty of progressions will allow you to learn at your own pace while being able to find joy in this movement experience. Who is this workshop for (everyone! but let's get more specific): current and former dancersbored gym-goerspole fitness folksaerialistsmartial artistsyogiscircus folksAnd anyone else who simply wants to try some new ways of moving and learning some cool fun moves! The aim of this workshop is to equip you with the basic and intermediate elements of floor locomotions, floor work, and soft acrobatics (Think accessible, yet challenging funky adultobatics!). Through this workshop, you will gain practical tools to build your own enjoyable physical practice that's playful, grounding, and meditative. Workshop content: Floor locomotions - this section is focused on moving on all fours in funky and creative ways. We'll explore crab walks, bear crawls, and many other movement patterns. Floorwork - introduction to several gentle rolling techniques and further exploration of modified floor locomotions that allow for more creativity and freedom of movement. Soft acrobatics - this is my favourite section! I will introduce you to the world of low-impact soft acrobatics like cartwheels, more rolling, and how to break down more complex movement patterns in a safe and accessible way. Even though this part might sound a bit scary, especially for someone without an acrobatic background, all participants will be able to work at their own pace and fitness level while learning new skills. Each section will consist of three parts: isolation, integration, and improvisation. This means that we'll start by learning individual moves, then start working on building movement flows and sequences, and finally, we'll learn how to improvise with those skills working towards grounding flow states. Everyone will be encouraged and supported to gently step outside their comfort zones to learn new skills and sequences. Above all, the aim is to have a lot of fun, learn to move in unique ways, and get creative with our bodies. Note: Limited spots available, so secure your place now! Workshop add-on: you'll receive 3 playlists with most of the moves you'll learn during the workshop, tutorials on how to do them and examples of sequences for your practice after the workshop. ***Additional Information Please, be aware the you will be requested to sign health waiver and video/photo consent before attending the workshop. During some of my workshops video recordings and photos will be taken. This is done for marketing and teaching purposes.
