Winnipeg Story Slam is back -- and this time with a theme! On November 12th, come and share a story or just be part of the live audience. This friendly competition is open-mic style and includes: - 10 Storytellers chosen from a hat - 5 minutes to tell a captivating true story (stories have a begining, a middle, and an end) - 5 volunteer audience judges - One cash prize for the winner - Plenty of unknowns and surprises This is the second Story Slam for the @winnipegstoryslam community, but the first time we are introducing an optional theme to help inspire storytellers. The format is open mic, but if you need a source of inspiration, our prompt for this upcoming Story Slam is: EVERYDAY HERO This means you can choose a story from your own personal storybank, or tap into our theme of EVERYDAY HERO, and share a personal story about: A childhood hero, or a time when you were your own hero. Or tell us about a time you had a chance to thank one of your heroes. Or share the story about discovering how you inspired someone. You could tell us about a time you were determined to do something, even if it felt dangerous, or a time you went above and beyond to help a friend or stranger -- even if it wasn't in your own best interest. Or maybe someone helped you in a way that changed you, or it was the gift you didn't know you needed. On November 12th, come share that story OR come just to watch the storytellers. TUESDAY - November 12th - @ THE ROYAL ALBERT ARMS (in the Exchange district) Doors open at 6:30 for storyteller sign up, and SHOW STARTS AT 7:30! $10 ticket. 1 CASH Prize (Note: Venue is cash only.
