Join A Peace of My Mind's John Noltner in Saint Paul as they celebrate the release of their new book, Lessons on the Road to Peace. In the fall of 2020, award-winning Minnesota-based photographer John Noltner and his wife Karen embarked on a unique journey to live small, listen deeply, and learn about the essence of our country. Lessons on the Road to Peace is a captivating journal that chronicles their honest and insightful exploration through the United States, guided by hope. Over the course of 900 days and 93,000 miles, Noltner collected hundreds of stories, all with a single goal in mind: to rediscover the connections that bind us in a divided world.
Robert Shetterly of Americans Who Tell the Truth lauds Noltner as our contemporary Alexis de Tocqueville, with his beautiful photographs and vivid stories that inquire whether Americans prefer repair to injury, compassion to vengeance, and real democracy to sectarian strife. Noltner fearlessly delves into the heart of our nation's most pressing issues, from immigration on the southern border to housing insecurity on Skid Row, and the controversial topic of Confederate monuments in Mississippi. Through these experiences, Noltner seeks out the voices of those who are actively seeking creative solutions to our greatest challenges. MSNBC Anchor Yasmin Vossoughian describes Noltner's journey as an opportunity to rediscover America in all its beauty, pain, sadness, and joy, showing us what is possible. Pearce Godwin, Founder of the #ListenFirst Coalition, praises Noltner for his vivid capture of the gritty beauty, pain, courage, and hope at the forefront of the American experiment.
Lessons on the Road to Peace is Noltner's fourth book in his ongoing project, A Peace of My Mind, which aims to bridge divides and build community through storytelling and art. To celebrate the book's release, an accompanying exhibit will be displayed. Attendees can look forward to light snacks and beverages. Tickets are free but limited, so make sure to register soon. Join us at the Saint Paul Neighborhood Network (SPNN) on January 25, 2024 for this remarkable event.
