Different Johns - Celebrating the life and legacy of John Cohen is a feature-length documentary created by Robert Carr. Join SheJumps at Alpenglow Expeditions in Olympic Valley, CA for the SheJumps x Alpenglow Expeditions | Get Ready for Backcountry event on December 15th. This event is part of the Tahoe Backcountry Safety Awareness Week (December 11-16) and aims to prepare participants for the 2023/24 backcountry season. During the evening, attendees will have the opportunity to learn from Alpenglow's women guides about essential items to include in their repair and first aid kits, as well as what to pack for a successful day in the backcountry. The lecture will cover topics such as dusting off beacons from summer and finding additional training and continuing education opportunities for the winter season. Following the lecture, there will be demos and do-it-yourself stations where participants can learn how to cut new skins and wax their skis or board. Please bring your own gear if you would like to give it a fresh wax or get your skins cut. Before and after the lecture, attendees can enjoy a happy hour with beer provided by Montucky Cold Snacks, wine by Revelshine, and light snacks by Alpenglow Expeditions.
