The IMPROV 300 WEDNESDAY- Scene Building - Listen/Be Heard SPRING '24 class is designed to further develop the fundamental skills learned in previous classes, with a particular focus on character work. Students will have the opportunity to explore scene building, utilizing the environment and non-linear narrative. The primary objective of this class is to bring scenes to life with energy, creating believable environments and compelling characters. Students will also learn how to sustain more complex narratives and play with commitment. As part of the class experience, students will have the chance to showcase their skills in front of an audience at the end of the session. The class will take place over the course of 8 Wednesdays from 7:00pm to 9:30pm at the 5700 6th Ave S Suite 109 in Seattle. Please note that attendance at the first session is mandatory, as it sets the agenda for the entire quarter. The class is open to individuals aged 18 and above who have completed Improv 100 and Improv 200. The cost of the class is $285. Please be aware that our cancellation policy only allows for credit towards a future class if cancellation occurs before the first session. Improv 200, the follow-up to Improv 100, takes your scene building skills to the next level. This course builds on the foundation established in Improv 100, utilizing techniques like "Yes, and..." to create scenes of increased complexity. Through this progression, your improv skills will continue to grow, resulting in higher-quality spontaneous storytelling. Additionally, you will have the opportunity to engage in popular Theatresports(TM) games, delving deeper into the concepts that lie beyond their entertainment value. Discover the rules that unlock emotional investment, enhance narrative abilities, and foster the creation of believable characters within imaginary circumstances.
The course spans over 8 Wednesday classes, with attendance at the first session being mandatory as it sets the agenda for the quarter. If you anticipate missing the first class, we recommend registering for the next quarter. Classes will be held from 7:00pm to 9:30pm at the venue located at 650 S Orcas Rm 217, Seattle, 98108. Please note that the maximum number of students is 16.
The cost of the course is $285 ($297.13 including booking fees), and it is open to participants who have completed Improv 100 or received approval from the Education Director. The minimum age requirement is 18 years old.
Please be aware of our cancellation policy: if you cancel before the first class, we can offer credit for a future class, but refunds are not available. If you cancel after the first class, credit towards a future class will not be provided. We apologize, but refunds are not possible in this situation.
