Holwell Life Drawing // Long Saturday Session | Holwell Village Hall
Dec 9, 2023 (UTC+0)ENDED
Hitchin
Holwell Village Hall in Hitchin presents the Holwell Life Drawing // Long Saturday Session, a monthly 5-hour life drawing event. This session welcomes participants of all skill levels, from beginners to professionals. The class offers a relaxed and friendly environment, allowing individuals to work in their preferred direction, whether it's a more analytical approach or a more expressive one. The session is facilitated by tutor Matt Burden, who holds an MA in Visual Communication from the Royal College of Art. Matt is available to provide guidance and advice tailored to each participant's goals and skill level. This event is open to individuals aged 18 and above.
Life drawing, which involves drawing from the living naked human form, is an excellent way for aspiring artists to exercise and enhance their skills. It is often compared to going to the gym for artistic development. The class will begin with some quick warm-up poses before progressing to longer poses, allowing participants to delve deeper into their explorations. Regular breaks will be provided for sharing and assessing efforts.
To get started, participants only need to bring some paper and a few pencils. However, they are welcome to experiment with other materials such as charcoal, crayons, pastels, or any other medium that piques their interest. If participants opt for messier materials, it is advisable to bring a dust sheet to protect the hall. Additionally, participants may want to bring something to lean on, such as boards or easels, although a sturdy sketchbook will suffice. Lunch breaks are scheduled, so attendees are encouraged to bring their own food. Complimentary teas and coffees will be provided.
