With a BA (Hons) in Painting and Printmaking from the prestigious Glasgow School of Art, Arnesen's work has garnered international recognition and has been exhibited in Scotland and beyond.
Arnesen's art is deeply rooted in the exploration of landscapes and the profound emotions they evoke. Through her mastery of oil painting, she delves into the underlying emotional currents of a situation, experience, or place. By immersing herself in the natural world, Arnesen finds a profound connection to something divine, a source of solace for her soul. Through her paintings, she seeks to bring this unique experience of the outdoors inside and to visualize contexts beyond the limitations of the naked eye.
The core themes of Arnesen's recent body of work revolve around spirituality, darkness, and solitude, embodied through the meticulous art of oil painting. Inspired by mysticism, folklore, and her observations of nature, Arnesen translates her experiences onto the canvas, gaining deeper insights into her own inner world and personal emotions. Her figurative paintings exhibit a highly detailed surface, achieved through the intricate layering of transparent and opaque paints.
