The NRA Pistol Instructor Certification Course is a comprehensive training program designed to equip individuals with the knowledge, skills, and attitude necessary to effectively organize, promote, and teach the NRA Basic Pistol Shooting course. This course is divided into two parts: basic instructor training and discipline-specific instructor training. Throughout the course, participants will engage in practical exercises to demonstrate their organizational and teaching abilities. Successful completion of an instructor certification examination is also required. In addition to the valuable training received, students will also receive the NRA Trainer's Guide and an NRA Basics Of Pistol Shooting Instructor Candidate Packet. To be eligible for this course, candidates must possess a solid background in firearm safety and shooting skills, which can be acquired through previous firearm training or shooting experience. Prior to the course, candidates will be asked to complete a pre-course questionnaire and participate in pre-course assessment exercises to demonstrate their firearm background. To ensure a successful learning experience, participants are required to bring specific equipment, including a reliable handgun (preferably semi-auto or revolver, 9mm or larger), approximately 100 rounds of ammunition, eye and ear protection, appropriate attire, and necessary personal items. While membership in the NRA is not mandatory, students are encouraged to provide their NRA number, if applicable. The NRA Pistol Instructor Certification Course is held at the Citizens Safety Academy in Murfreesboro, TN.
