ASIST is a two-day interactive workshop in suicide first-aid. A 2-day ASIST training at the Courtyard by Marriott Petoskey at Victories Square, 1866 Mkwa Place, Petoskey, MI 49770 . Date/Time: April 29th-30th, 2026, 8:15-4:30, with BOTH FULL DAYS REQUIRED. **If there times you know you won't be able to give your full attention (scheduled meetings, appointments, etc) perhaps you'll need to look for a later course. There is a $50 deposit (plus fees) REQUIRED to save your seat. **A full refund (minus processing fees) will be processed only after attending both full days of training... unless you prefer to pay-it-forward. Though this training is valued at $250, it's supplemented by the following sponsors: Kiersten's Ride, Northern Michigan Opioid Response Consortium and Michigan Center for Rural Health. ASIST teaches participants to recognize when someone may be at risk of suicide and work with them to create a plan that will support their immediate safety. Although ASIST is widely used by healthcare providers, participants don’t need any formal training to attend the workshop—ASIST can be learned and used by anyone. In the course of the two-day workshop, ASIST participants learn to: • Understand the ways personal and societal attitudes affect views on suicide and interventions • Provide guidance and suicide first-aid to a person at risk in ways that meet their individual safety needs • Identify the key elements of an effective suicide safety plan and the actions required to implement it • Appreciate the value of improving and integrating suicide prevention resources in the community at large • Recognize other important aspects of suicide prevention including life-promotion and self-care All materials and meals will be provided.
