Art-coustics At The Bookery | Turning Tides Tea Room

Arts
Craft
Over a series of events through winter 24-25, Significant Seams and Turning Tides are inviting you to get involved in a range of creative activities and join us for a free hot lunch every Monday and a number of Tuesdays (The sessions at The Bookery). Our first few sessions will involve mood board making: We want your input on ambiance to help make the Tea Rooms a space that is more comfortable for everyone - by improving the acoustics and understanding what makes the space welcoming and comfortable for everyone. Then we will move on to creative and hopefully a bit of flamboyant making. We plan to make a colour changing ceiling (we have a plan), a series of large wall hangings that can reflect different moods/characters of the type of events they host, various needle felted things, and a quilted patchwork mural for over an open doorway. There are ideas about some 3-d creations, but our shared lunches and making sessions will shape the plan. We hope you will join us in this social making, a bit of practical craftivism about inclusion, and metaphorical and literal breaking of bread together. As our plans develop we aim to update this event page with plans and details about the dominant activity at each session. These sessions are all free but donations are welcome. They would be used to 'pay it forward' and offer additional activities in the future. Information Source: Significant Seams | eventbrite

Expect to join us for a fun-filled event that combines arts related (music, theatre, visual arts, craft, and technical skills that support arts) activities and eco-inspired activities. There could be cookery related opportunities too. Our experienced youth workers will introduce participants to activities, and help develop and enable ideas that participants or older youth interns suggest. Each day will include a hot meal, usually made together in an OUTDOOR kitchen! After a tour of the site, each day we will have collective activities and projects: we anticipate these to include music making/jamming sessions, art making, and a foraging related challenge across the days. Whether you're a budding artist or a nature lover, want to hang out with buddies or a natural adventurer, this programme aims to support you to have an exceptional experience. Join us at the Empowered Creativity: 2024 Youth Programme! Locations: Anticipated as Four Mills Lane, Crediton EX17 and Creativity Acre at Significant Seams, Knowle, Crediton Hamlets. Details to be confirmed closer to the time. The programme is currently expected to carry a charge but we are in discussion with potenial partners to reduce or eliminate this. We currently have 15 spaces available fully funded for young people entitled to free school meals. A code, provided by the young person's school or Devon County Council, will be needed to secure one of these places. If the young person has participated as a Free School Meal recipient in the past, we should have the code on record. Otherwise the code must be obtained from a school or DCC. If the young person has participated and had a sponsored space for another reason, it is highly unlikely to be funded by DCC in this round of activities. Please do let us know if cost is prohibiting factor. We are keen to understand any needs so we can do anything we can to address it. Information Source: Significant Seams | eventbrite
