Samuel Barber’s atmospheric classic Summer Music captures both the languid and exuberant feeling of a long summer day outdoors. Autumn Bacchanale from Alexander Glazunov’s The Seasons ballet depicts the colorful chaos of falling leaves as well as the melancholy of the anticipation of winter. Brad Balliett’s beautiful and unique new work Tanbark Ridge is inspired by birdsong, as is Han Lash’s Leander and Hero.
