The WCDEA 2023 Working Equitation & Dressage Schooling Show #3 (of 3) will be held at Sunset Farm Park in Blaine, WA. This event, organized by the Whatcom County Dressage & Eventing Association, offers an exciting opportunity for riders to showcase their skills in Working Equitation and various dressage disciplines such as Western, USDF, and USEA. The show will take place on Sunday, September 24, 2023, and will feature a range of divisions including Introductory, Novice A, Novice B, Intermediate A, and Intermediate B. Participants will have the chance to compete in both Dressage and Ease of Handling events. Dressage tests will include WE tests, as well as USDF Intro through Second Level (2023 tests). The Schooling Show environment provides a low-stress and cost-effective way for riders to practice their dressage tests. Each participant will receive their test back with scores and comments from the judge, allowing for valuable feedback and improvement. Competitors in the Working Equitation division will receive ribbons, while dressage-only riders will be awarded ribbon colors based on percentages. The event rules state that helmets and boots with heels are mandatory for all riders, and body protective vests are allowed. Participants are also required to clean up around their trailers before leaving to maintain a Leave No Trace policy. Ride times will be sent two days prior to the event, and online payment is available for non-members. For those planning to participate in both the Saturday clinic and the Sunday schooling show, overnight camping with horses is available for $25 per horse per night. Limited grassy paddocks with water spigots are provided on a first-come, first-served basis. However, campfires, alcohol, dogs, and tying horses to fences are strictly prohibited.
