Soul Stories, the final performance of Dance Mission's Liberation Academy 2.0, is set to captivate audiences in San Francisco. This highly anticipated event features nine talented choreographers of Afro-descent who have participated in a rigorous five-month intensive program. With tickets priced on a sliding scale from $0 to $20, attendees are encouraged to pay what they can, with a recommended ticket price of $15.
Throughout the intensive program, these dedicated members of the Liberation Academy have received training from renowned choreographers, artistic directors, dancers, musicians, and dance historians. Collaborating with a team of skilled designers, including experts in lighting design, sound design, and stage management, the intensive members have crafted nine unique dance and dance/theater pieces. These performances intimately share stories of growth, struggle, passion, and freedom.
Under the guidance of esteemed leaders Sarah Crowell and Kara Mack, along with the support of mentors such as Ray Archie, Susana Arenas, and Rennie Harris, the Liberation Academy 2.0 has nurtured the artistic growth and expression of its participants. Prepare to be moved by the talents of LaShante Bonin, Soazig Kaam, Juliana Mendonca, Erica Mitchell, Beatriz Parra, Safiyyah Salahuddim, Dana Smart, Antoinette Spillers, and Tiyamike Tisatayane.
