Join the Linocut Printmaking Multicolour course in Sheffield City Centre at Carousel Print Studio, Exchange Place Studios. Led by Sheffield artist and printmaker Helen Darlington, this workshop allows you to learn or rediscover the process of linocut printmaking. Using professional quality equipment and materials, you will have the opportunity to draw, carve, create, and print your own original two-color prints. No drawing skills are necessary to enjoy this relaxed and fun beginners course. By the end of the workshop, you will leave with your hand-carved printing block and a collection of your own framed artworks. All materials and equipment will be provided, but if you have any ideas or reference material, feel free to bring them along. High contrast images work best for this technique. The workshop also covers how you can continue to produce linocut prints at home with basic equipment. Carousel Print Studio is a not-for-profit charity located at Exchange Place Studios in Sheffield. The studio provides educational workshops in printmaking and supports the creative community. The workshop will take place on February 17, 2024, and the ticket price is £85. Children's Free Learn to Ride a Bike sessions at Forge Valley School in Sheffield are the perfect opportunity for children aged 5 years and above to learn how to ride their bike without stabilisers. These fun and relaxed lessons are specifically designed for children who cannot ride at all or are still wobbly when riding without support. Led by experienced and fully qualified National Standards cycling instructors, these small group sessions ensure that each child receives maximum benefit.
Please note that due to funding constraints, these sessions are only available for Sheffield residents. When booking, please provide a Sheffield postcode. Although parents are welcome to attend, it has been found that children tend to make better progress when parents do not stay. All necessary equipment, including helmets, balance bikes, and spare bikes, will be provided.
The sessions will be held at Forge Valley School and will last for 1 hour. To ensure a smooth experience, participants will receive an information email a few days before the event with all the necessary details. For any questions, please contact Steve Fox at steve.fox@cyclenorth.co.uk.
Previous participants have expressed their gratitude for the learn to ride sessions. One parent shared their joy as their child returned from the lesson full of confidence and spent the entire weekend cycling in the park.
