Neurographic Art: An Art Expression for Relaxation | ESG Innovation Lab
May 28, 2024 (UTC+8)ENDED
Hong Kong
Don't miss the chance to unwind and indulge in a well-deserved relaxation session on May 28th at 12:30pm at the Neurographic Art: An Art Expression for Relaxation event in Hong Kong. This unique art form was created by Dr. Pavel Piscarev, a Russian psychologist, artist, and architect, in 2014. Neurographica involves drawing freeform lines known as neurolines on paper, guiding you to de-stress and meditate as the pen glides across the page, forming intricate shapes and patterns. By focusing on the drawing, participants can momentarily detach from their worries and anxieties, aiming to reset and release negative emotions onto the paper. This art therapy technique is grounded in the scientific exploration of visual thinking and pattern recognition, making it a valuable tool in managing stress, anxiety, and PTSD. Join this transformative experience at the ESG Innovation Lab, located at 28/F, 28 Stanley Street, Central, Hong Kong, HKI. Tickets for the event are priced between HK$0 to HK$158.99.

Rock from Germany: TREPTOW live in Hong Kong | Fringe Dairy
May 10, 2025 (UTC+8)ENDED
Hong Kong
Three summers, more than 75 festival shows, and still hungry for more: Treptow, an alternative rock duo from Berlin, has become one of Germany’s top festival bands. With over 14 million streams and more than 300 concerts in 12 countries under their belt, the Berlin-based duo is gearing up for another jam-packed year. Without backing tracks or safety nets, the two-piece delivers the fury and raw energy of a full punk band. With poetry, intensity, and humor, the two friends take the stage with an unmatched drive. Philipp Taubert, singer and guitarist, was born and raised in East Berlin, right in the heart of the capital. Lukas Lindner, drummer and Philipp’s brother from another mother, grew up in a small town by Lake Constance. With Mozambican roots and a restless spirit, he was drawn to the road—just like Philipp. After finishing school, both felt the urge to break free, leave their familiar surroundings behind, and eventually meet each other on their travels. A few years of friendship later, in 2017, they launched their eponymous band in the Berlin district of Treptow and have been shaking up the German-speaking music scene ever since. This event is part of the Europe Day Festival 2025

MTWM presents: Riot in School Live in Hong Kong | The Aftermath

Hong Kong
MTWM Presents: Riot in School Live in Hong Kong Chengdu rock band Riot in School 返校日 brings their 2nd album Punk Rock Blasphemy (//褻瀆朋克搖滾) to Hong Kong, alongside their hard-hitting and infectious live energy. Details: Date | 2025 May 11 (Sun)
Time | Doors 20:00
Venue | The Aftermath, LG/F, 52-54 Wyndham Street
Tickets | $120 (soli), $250 (adv) via Eventbrite
Special Guests | Bad Actors (HK), TBC Organised by @milkteawithoutmilk (A limited number of solidarity tickets are available for the unwaged, unhoused, unemployed, students, or those who need it.) === Did You Get Everything You Wanted From Your Youth? For Riot in School, it never seemed enough. This is a band living in perpetual anxiety, never satisfied, and full of regrets—but also full of relentless drive. In the summer of 2022, after the bittersweet release of their first album “Ceremony for Corruption”, Riot in School hit the road for their debut national tour. Thirteen shows in unfamiliar cities brought fleeting euphoria, but the joy dissolved as quickly as it came. They returned to routine, haunted by wasted time and craving something more: a bigger audience, a deeper connection, and a stronger voice in this cultural landscape. Amidst post-lockdown turmoil, they expanded from a trio to a quartet and poured two and a half years into creating their second album. It was a grueling process of self-discovery, internal conflict, and artistic obsession. The band gambled everything— their youth, money, and sanity—to craft something sharper, heavier, and more aggressive. Riot in School, as self-proclaimed leaders of China’s new wave of bands, are making the boldest move in their history: a Southeast Asian tour with an expanded five-piece lineup, guest bands from the region’s alternative scene, and their hardest-hitting setlist yet. This is our moment. Will you be there with me? For their Hong Kong stop, the band is joined by local alt-rock trio Bad Actors. === More About Riot in School’s Second Album: 《//褻瀆朋克搖滾》 《//褻瀆朋克搖滾》, translated to “//Punk Rock Blasphemy”, is Riot in School’s sophomore effort, blending the energy of post-hardcore with the melodicism of alternative rock, infused with hip-hop, trip-pop, and experimental electronics to create a sound uniquely their own. Two and a half years in the making, the album emerged from intense conflicts and artistic anxiety; all of the albums’ 11-tracks were self-financed and painstakingly recorded, reflecting the band’s unwavering commitment to leaving no regrets. Mixed by legendary producer Will Yip (known for his work with Title Fight, Turnstile, and more), the album is intricately crafted, divided into three dynamic sections filled with bold experimentation. The album cover and liner notes highlight left-behind children from Sichuan, for whom the band organised a benefit tour back in February of 2025.

In Conversation: Nicole Coson, Peng Ke, Anqi Li, and Tobias Berger | Hauser & Wirth
Jul 10, 2025 (UTC+8)ENDED
Hong Kong
In Conversation: Nicole Coson, Peng Ke, Anqi Li and Tobias Berger On the occasion of the group exhibition 'Aura Within' at Hauser & Wirth Hong Kong, please join us for a conversation with Anqi Li, the curator of the exhibition, and the artists Nicole Coson and Peng Ke to discuss their inspirations and creative practices as Asian artists working in different contexts, as well as the curatorial idea behind the exhibition. The talk will be moderated by Tobias Berger. About the Artists Nicole Coson works in printmaking, video, and sculpture, exploreing the process of image-making as it pertains to personal memory, history, and material culture. Coson’s printed canvases oscillate delicately between surface and depth; by integrating symbolically-loaded found objects into the etching press, the concrete material culture transforms into analog, indexical images through their negative imprint. This oscillation between pattern, image and object is embraced by Coson to tell stories of family, society and coloniality, but never in straight-forward ways. Rather, the artist is deeply committed to the aesthetic politics of opacity and by extension, privacy, secrecy and intimacy. Rather than alluding to a hidden meaning behind her barrier motifs (camouflage patterns, window blinds, woven baskets, food crates), Coson invites us to study them as such—barriers—and the critical potential of visual obfuscation. Born in 1992 in Manila, Coson lives and works in London. Peng Ke both works with images and writes, her experimental practice wandering between images from photography books and personal experiences from reality. Peng explores the experience of living in the fast-developing urban environment, such as small cities in China. One can peek into the colorful corners of these rural cities through the finely tuned images captured by Ke’s lens. Peng's primary concern is with the relationship between the human condition of urban spaces and the collective experiences of the people there. In her photographs, the tasteful colors, charming forms, strange outlines and varied textures of the indoor and outdoor daily scenes of China, among other places in Asia, are vividly and incisively displayed in their very original forms. Born in 1992 in Changsha, Peng lives and works between Los Angeles and Shanghai. About the Curator Anqi Li is an independent curator and museum scholar based in Hong Kong.
