Nature Doodles Workshop with Megan Dowsett How do you Doodle? Use an extensive array of seed pods, sticks, leaves and cones to create temporary artworks, known as Nature Doodles. Without lifting a pencil, or pen, we doodle individually, before creating a bigger, collaborative piece, seeing the magic that can happen when we all work together. Nature Doodles are an invitation to play - experience the sensory delights of nature in a non-committal way. Children find this approach intuitive; adults often find it meditative, re-discovering their own ability to play. This workshop is led by Megan Dowsett, an Exeter-based artist exploring connection with people, place and nature. Nature Doodles has formed an important part of her practice for over two years. --- 11am - 12:30 - Drop in session, open to all ages but best suited to people aged 3+. Drop in to doodle at your own pace and attention span. See what happens if you expand your creation to join on to others 2pm - 3.30 - Facilitated session, ages 4+. As part of our Print In Action Celebrations this April, RAMP are partnering with Arts University Plymouth to join Professional Printmaker Jemma Gunning for a half-day workshop exploring the wonders of monotype printmaking—a fast, expressive, and spontaneous technique that produces unique, one-of-a-kind prints. Monoprint Workshop This workshop will take place in the splendid Print Room at Arts University Plymouth where you will spend the morning exploring the wonders of monotype printmaking—a fast, expressive, and spontaneous technique that produces unique, one-of-a-kind prints. Monoprinting Monoprinting is an ideal way to experiment with tone, composition, and mark-making, making it a great tool for generating ideas and developing creative work. Jemma will guide you through her own approach to monotype, sharing insights into how she uses the process to inform her own printmaking practice. Who is it for Perfect for all abilities, this workshop is an opportunity to embrace the unpredictability and freedom of monotype printing. Come and discover the beauty of working with ink in a loose and experimental way! What to bring All materials and equipment will be provided but please bring a water bottle so you can stay hydrated. You will be contacted a week before the workshop with information about how to get to the Print Room at AUP, parking and any other useful information. More about Jemma Gunning Jemma Gunning is a printmaker whose work explores the fragility of our built environment, focusing on derelict and abandoned spaces. Using traditional intaglio techniques and expressive monoprinting, she captures the haunting beauty of ruins, layering marks to evoke histories embedded within crumbling architecture. Her practice is driven by a fascination with places in flux—industrial remnants, forgotten sites, and landscapes shaped by time and neglect. Recently, she has been recording dramatic mountain landscapes, where the terrain is constantly shifting, much like the built environment she studies. Through her work, she highlights themes of impermanence, societal shifts, and the traces we leave behind. An RWA Academician and a member of the Royal Society of Painter-Printmakers (RE), Jemma co-founded the Bristol Print Collective and has exhibited widely across the UK. Her work is held in private and public collections, including the V&A, the Ashmolean Museum, and the RWA. She teaches printmaking workshops and recently established her own etching studio, where she continues to develop new work. www.jemmagunning.com Jemma will also be giving a talk at Print In Action so if you are interested in learning more please head to Home - Real Art Make Print for details. For more information about our workshops, creative activities, studios, and facilities, be sure to visit the RAMP (Real Art Make Print) website.
