Experience the talented young musicians of Spartanburg High School Orchestra as they embark on a captivating tour in May and June 2024, with performances in London, Liverpool, and Edinburgh. Founded in 1920, Spartanburg High School boasts the first-ever string orchestra program in South Carolina and is recognized as the flagship institution in Spartanburg School District 7. The school accommodates students in grades 9-12, with a student body of approximately 2,000 individuals. The newly renovated campus features cutting-edge technology and a state-of-the-art Performing Arts Theatre, providing seating for up to 1,000 guests. This upgrade marks a significant enhancement for both students and attendees, especially within the music community.
For over five decades, members of Spartanburg High School orchestras have showcased their musical talents internationally, with past performances spanning across various countries. This year, the orchestra will enchant audiences in London, Liverpool, and Edinburgh, where they will join forces with Bristo Community Concert Band at Greyfriars Kirk on June 5, 2024, for an unforgettable joint concert. Bristo Community Concert Band, located in Edinburgh, is a diverse musical ensemble comprising individuals of varying ages and backgrounds, offering a unique blend of musical genres from film and jazz to classical concert pieces.
