Experience the captivating and diverse sounds of Soprano Ana Arnaz and violinists Colleen Jennings and Amanda Stenroos in their curative concert, "What is a Voice?" presented by the Ex Luce ensemble. From the enchanting melodies of old Europe in the XV century to the vibrant compositions of Hungary, North America, Scotland, and Finland in the XXI century, Ex Luce will transport you to new and exciting sound worlds. The program is thoughtfully curated, allowing different aesthetics to merge and collide, creating a celebration of new sounds and colors. At the center of the program is the revered composer Bela Bartok, who wrote prolifically for both violin and voice. His groundbreaking 44 duos for two violins inspired modern-day composer Kenji Bunch to create his own set of duos, which will be intertwined with Bartok's works in this performance. You will also be treated to Bartok's captivating folk melodies, originally written for three voices but transcribed here for two violins and voice.
