"Wow! We go upgraded to two bedroom apartment which was really handy since it has washer/dryer plus air conditioning in both bedrooms and open plan living area. Very clean and modern apartment with good appliances (Bosch cooktop, oven, dishwasher, washer and dryer). The apartment is sound proofed. They also have 4 varieties of Zealong Tea Estate teas along with the Zealong cups plus coffee pods. The hotel is next to the lake and shops so it’s quite convenient. My only issue is that outside of night time sleeping hours, the air conditioner would turn off by itself after a few minutes. Other than that, I really enjoyed staying at this hotel and would recommend it to others."

"We had a very good discounted price for the night, the room was very comfortable and clean with a good bathroom.
Unfortunately the units are not very well sound proofed and in our instance the occupants of the room next door were very inconsiderate and stayed up very late, even after asking them in person to go to sleep at 1am it took another while before it got quiet.

"The scenery is unique! The eldest brother is also very enthusiastic ~ everything is great! "While the TV and bathroom in the room were a bit dated, I don't really use the TV anyway, so it didn't bother me much. However, I think the view was absolutely stunning. My friend and I really enjoyed the ambiance, and the ground-floor lake view room had a backyard that opened directly onto the lawn. On the afternoon of our check-in, we not only enjoyed the scenery but also stargazed and admired the moon together that evening, so I had a great time."

"Although we had booked the economy room at the back with garden view, we had a small private terrace at leisure. And finally *** could sleep with the door open and singing birds, because there were mosquito nets (the first time in NZ after more than three weeks!). Equipment modern and at a high level. We would return, but the next time with water view book - these units looked fantastic even for longer stays!"

"Facilities: very large, a bit like a soup house, then there is a big bathtub with a balcony, then there are two rooms, a small room is two small beds, is for children to sleep, very suitable for family travel
Hygienic: Overall good, but be sure to remember that you must close the window at night, otherwise there will be a lot of small bugs coming in. Well, there are insecticides in the cabinets in the room.
Service: Very good, then if you can't make five copies, you can let the front desk give the local taxi phone, and then borrow the front desk phone to make a call.
Environment: Very good, next to Lake Taupo, there are several black swans outside, long-term life. Don't worry, they are not very noisy."

Strawberry_ShortcakeWe booked this place because it was relatively cheaper compared to other motels in Taupō. At first, I wasn’t sure what to expect since it’s not right on the lakefront or in the CBD, but it’s only about a 10-minute drive from the main area. (Car def needed ! 🚗³₃)
What a pleasant surprise! The resort is huge, and the room was very clean, comfortable, and cozy. The facilities were incredible and all included with the stay: two heated pools, two jacuzzis, a sauna, tennis courts, football fields, squash courts, and a gym. Everything was well maintained, and the facilities are open from 6am to 11pm, which was fantastic.
There are also restaurants and bars on-site, which were great. We didn’t try the breakfast, but they offer a $35 buffet breakfast that looked really good.
The location is also very convenient, with easy access to many of Taupō’s attractions, including the geothermal spas, Huka Falls, and the prawn park.
Overall, this accommodation exceeded our expectations, and I would highly recommend it to anyone visiting Taupō!

I arrived in Taupo on the morning Air NZ flight from AKL, upon arrival at the Chevron Motel, 4 hours before the published check-in time, I had planned to ask to have my luggage stored while I go about other business. The receptionist kindly asked me to wait while she checked to see if my room was ready, and if so, I could have my room right away. Lucky for me it was, I was very pleased with the initiative and flexibility offered. My booking included a living area with dining table, kitchen, sofa, spare single bed, a separate bedroom, and a dedicated parking space. My stay of 5 nights was very comfortable, and I will definitely use this motel again on my next visit. I would like to offer a few suggestions for improvements, first - a split type AC unit was present in the living room, it would be great if there could be a second unit installed in the bedroom. Internet connectivity, available 24/7, while adequate, did have limited bandwidth affecting video streaming from Netflix/YouTube etc. Lastly, it would be great if the TV provided in the living room had a larger screen. In summary, I was very pleased with my stay at the Chevron Motel, the room offered great value for money, and I was completely relaxed and comfortable during my stay.

MantougagaThe room was spacious and had a balcony with a view of Lake Taupo. It was very clean, and housekeeping did an excellent job.
There's a large parking lot below the hotel, making parking convenient. The path from the parking lot to the hotel is also well-lit.
However, some rooms were undergoing renovations, and it was quite noisy in the mornings. This could be disruptive if you're looking for a relaxing vacation.
Taupo is located in an earthquake zone, and we experienced a small tremor during our stay. It wasn't major, but it was a bit startling. It's good to be aware of this if you're planning a trip to Taupo; apparently, small earthquakes happen several times a year and are quite normal.

We stayed one night en route to Hobbiton and liked it so much that we stayed another 2 later in our trip.
Great location, and Cambridge is a relatively easy base to get to other places from.
Beautiful decor throughout, nice finishings and really peaceful.
It was very busy during our stay (around Christmas/NY) so a little wait for food/drinks but that’s to be expected. We had positive interactions with all hotel and restaurant staff.
My only feedback is that the switches in the rooms have blue lights on them, which, for people that like a black-out room, can disrupt sleep. Hopefully an easy fix!

JoceryThe hotel is in a great central location, making it super easy to get to all the attractions we wanted to visit. The breakfast was really good too, and I appreciated that it was served a bit longer than other hotels, until 11 AM. Plus, there are tons of restaurants nearby, both Chinese and Western, which was very convenient.
