We are aware of other reviews about this hotel, but we were given the best recently renovated room, on the 3rd floor of this hotel, overlooking the sea and we were very pleased with our stay. We have been to other beaches on the island of Mauritius, but the beach near this hotel seemed better to us, since it is less crowded and you can walk a little further to the beach to the hotels, where it is generally free.
