Hotels With Breakfast in Northern Province, Sri Lanka

For me, there was no other accommodation option other than Jetwing Jaffna! I stayed there in 2018 and came back for a family visit in 2023. Its location in the middle of the city makes it a no-brainer as the choice of accommodation. The breakfast spread was impressive (I loved the bacon and sausages and the paal appam - out of this world stuff!). Staff were friendly and courteous. The roof top bar and the scenery was something to look foreword to winding down the evenings. If ever I return to Jaffna in the future, there will be no other choice for me to stay , except at Jetwing Jaffna.

During my visit to Jaffna for the Nallur festival in September, I unfortunately did not make a prior hotel reservation and decided to check availability at The Valampuri hotel upon arrival. However, I was informed that due to high demand, the hotel was fully booked. The receptionist recommended their sister company, Green Grass Hotel, which I reluctantly agreed to stay in, considering it was late at night and I had already traveled a long journey by train. The reservation at Green Grass Hotel was for six days. Upon reflection, I regret staying at Green Grass Hotel. The room provided was unclean and located in a secluded corner of the hotel. The bed appeared worn out with evident stains on the sheets. The condition of the toilet was disappointing, with cockroaches freely moving around. Moreover, the availability of hot water was inconsistent; it was only available on certain days. When I requested the cleaning staff to tidy the room while I explored Jaffna, their service was subpar, and I doubted if the bed sheets were even changed. Despite being listed as a two-star hotel on ***********, I would rate this hotel as a one-star establishment based on my experience. Although Green Grass Hotel claimed to have Wi-Fi, it did not function properly throughout my stay. Despite complaining about this issue for four consecutive days, no resolution was provided. It is worth mentioning that while some of the staff members were helpful, others displayed rude and unhelpful behavior. If circumstances force you to stay at Green Grass Hotel for one night in the absence of alternatives, I would strongly advise finding a more accommodating hotel in Jaffna as soon as possible. The overall experience at Green Grass Hotel was certainly not worth the stay.

Value for money. Near all facilities. Had minor hiccups in the room but the front office uncle was quick to sort them. Bar and restaurant available. Breakfast was great and love the fresh milk tea in the morning. Best to provide driver stay foc like other av 3 stars for future referrals via them in appreciation

Stayed at Jetwing Mahesa Bhawan on my first ever visit to the magnificent city of Jaffna this month & let me say that this has truly been one of the most exceptional experiences I’ve had in Sri Lanka! Located in the heart of the city down a tranquil neighbourhood, this colonial gem was nothing short of a masterpiece in terms of its architectural style & interior design. Added to that was the most wonderful staff led by Mr Juckshan & Miss Nilanthi with their tireless efforts in making sure that our stay was comfortable from the moment we arrived at Jaffna. Special thanks to Megala for your exceptional food & Janaka for your service - you two truly are an important part in making Mahesa Bhawan the unforgettable experience that it was to myself as well as my family. This resort is a paradise just out of Jaffna town. The resort is extremely clean, modern rooms and excellent local food. During our stay in Jaffna we stayed at both Valumpuri and Jetwing, however Fox resorts was noticeably better in all facets. The manager Trevine personally catered for all our needs asking each morning what we would like to have for dinner that night and breakfast the next morning - the food possibilities were endless and the head chef went out of his way to attend to our food cravings. Additionally, food was always prepared fresh and as a personal request chef Regi prepared hoppers for us each morning. We also enjoyed service throughout the hotel including in the pool area thanks to Amith who was proactive and extremely attentive in his service. It seems as this resort is the only to care for attention to detail and exceeding service standards, very refreshing for Jaffna. The hotel does not have a liquor licence however was very happy for us to drink our own liquor at the pool or the restaurant which works out to be cheaper any way. They provided excellent mixes and suggestions for our own brought alcohol. We will always be staying in this resort in future. Thanks to Trevine and Amith for looking after us.

We felt like home from the moment we stepped into this beautiful 4 bedroom villa which has been tastefully decorated not disturbing it's old charm. Madhu was an excellent host and made our stay even more comfortable by attending to all our requirements. He was also helpful in giving us tips on the places to visit almost like a personal tour guide! We had the whole place to ourselves and having a pool was a bonus. Most importantly the food was exceptional! We got to try all the famous Jaffna curries and other local dishes. It is ideal for a group of friends or a family for a weekend getaway.
