The hotel's location is excellent, right next to the JR station and connected to Kintetsu Department Store. The area is very lively, probably the busiest spot in Wakayama. Although the hotel is a bit old, it's very clean, and the bed was super comfortable. They offer complimentary tea and coffee, served in what seems to be the breakfast area, which has a really nice ambiance. I'll definitely stay here again next time I'm in Wakayama!

The hotel facility is excellent and perfectly clean with a high-class traditional japanese service standard. Our room was a deluxe room with private hot spring tub. It's a little pricy while I think it's perfect to celebrate the anniversary with my wife. Dinner and breakfast were good, while it may not be the best comparing with other hotels in the major cities. The sightseeing points are also within 5-10 mins driving distance from the hotel. We expected to watch the sunset at the balcony, while on that day the weather was a bit cloudy so we didn't take a nice photo here.

Fantastic hotel! The check-in and check-out process was entirely self-service, which was super convenient. The room had everything I needed and was quite clean. The location is excellent too, but the absolute best part was the incredible view of Wakayama Castle right outside my window – I didn't even have to leave the room to enjoy it!

The hotel is easy to find with a parking garage connecting to it. Check in was fast and hotel staff was helpful with good English. Parking is 800 yen for hotel guests for 24 hours. The room is nice and beddings are comfortable. Their sky spa is small but functional with an indoor, outdoor onsen and a steam sauna. It could get crowded if there are more than 2-3 people given so compact. The mall downstairs have a few restaurants, a supermarket, a bookstore and a public library which is convenient. The hotel does not provide much amenities which I was a bit disappointed. Overall still a good hotel with a modern stylish design which i recommend in non peak season with a good rate.

This is my second time staying at Comfort Hotel Wakayama. It's conveniently located just a few minutes' walk to the right after exiting JR Wakayama Station. Check-in was quick and easy, and the room, though small, was well-appointed. The service was excellent, as always, and breakfast was delicious. We had a small unexpected incident during our trip, which is why I didn't take many photos, but the staff patiently and diligently helped us resolve it. We are very grateful for their assistance.

The hotel itself is in a good location. 10 minutes walk from the local station and with a beautiful view of the ocean. It is a charming hotel with an open air hot spring which was the highlight for me. The staff are very friendly and happy to help. They mostly speak enough English to help if you don’t know much Japanese. The breakfast and dinner was included with the price and very tasty ryokan style Kaiseki dinner where a very helpful waitress explained every course I stayed in a Japanese style room and for a westerner it was not the most comfortable stay but that is on me and not the hotel! I would add the room was quite dusty though I am not sure if that is due to the tatami mats. They provide bus schedule information for guests who visit to see the Daimonzaka, Nachi Falls and Seigantoji Altogether a good stay but if you are used to western style beds I recommend you choose those rooms

Our semi-ocean view room in the main building offered direct views of the beautiful crescent-shaped white sand beach. Although the weather wasn't particularly warm during our visit, I admired the brave locals who were already swimming in the sea. The room itself was very spacious, with a separate sleeping area and a tea/lounge area. The cups featured cute panda designs, and we even received welcome snacks. The entire hotel has a fresh and comfortable Japanese style. The service was incredibly attentive, with staff being warm and helpful. The onsen (hot spring) was also fantastic; the open-air bath was truly relaxing, and the water felt very therapeutic. Overall, it offered great value for money. The quiet environment is perfect for a vacation. It's also a short walk to Shirarahama Beach, and you can even walk to see the sunset at Engetsu Island if you miss the bus. I highly recommend this to anyone visiting Wakayama for a beach and onsen experience; you won won't be disappointed.

Smile Hotel Wakayama is conveniently located right beside Wakayama Castle, making it a great choice for sightseeing and exploring the area. Overall, we had a good stay and a pleasant experience. Although the hotel’s renovation and interior are slightly outdated, the room was still clean and comfortable. Considering the price and the excellent location, it is more than acceptable and offers great value for money. What truly stood out was the excellent service from the front desk staff. They were extremely friendly, helpful, and professional. We encountered a problem with our car during our stay, and the staff kindly assisted us by contacting the police and helping us handle the situation, which we really appreciated. Overall, it’s a great option if you’re looking for a budget-friendly hotel with a fantastic location and outstanding service.

The room was very spacious and had no strange smells. The hotel staff even helped move our stored luggage into the room and provided complimentary snacks and water, which was a very thoughtful touch! The TV showed the occupancy of various public areas, which was super considerate. The hot springs were also very comfortable, with good ambiance and cleanliness. After a dip, they offered popsicles, which was a nice treat. There were two large bookshelves nearby where you could pick out your favorite manga to read, and right outside was the massage chair area – absolutely perfect! In the evening, they offered free late-night noodles that were quite tasty, and there was a self-service drink bar. The breakfast buffet had a wide variety of choices, and I even got to try local specialty sushi, which was a unique experience. There was an electronic scale at the stairwell for weighing luggage, which was very convenient. I'd love to visit again if I get the chance!

The room was spacious. I booked a twin room with a sea view and a tatami area. The public onsen on the 11th floor offers stunning sunset views while you soak, but no phones are allowed. We also booked a massage; I opted for the 30-minute full body massage for 6,600 JPY. Soaking in the open-air bath at night when it's less crowded, you can clearly hear the sound of the waves. Shirarahama Beach is about a 10-minute walk from the hotel. There's also a large duty-free drugstore nearby that's open until 9 PM, but remember you'll need your passport for tax exemption and they only accept cash.

GGuest UserThis hotel definitely deserves a 5-star rating; it pretty much met all my expectations for this vacation. Make sure to book a sea-facing room! The rooms are quite spacious, and they offer futon-laying service. When you open the window, you're directly overlooking the sea. Be aware that some room types might have the parking lot obstructing the view, so it's not a completely unobstructed oceanfront view. The best part of the hotel is undoubtedly the hot springs, which span three or four levels. The lowest level is open-air, allowing you to experience soaking in the water while gazing out at the Pacific Ocean in the morning. The hot springs were absolutely the highlight of our trip, incredibly comfortable and relaxing, so much so that we spontaneously extended our stay by an extra night. The dinner included with the room booking was just okay, but breakfast was decent. There are several restaurants within a 10-minute walk, so you don't necessarily need to book dinner with your room. The facilities are comprehensive, including billiards, KTV, and a bar.

NNorth JumpTaoya Nachikatsuura is a refurbished property with excellent rooms and a great location, making it a VERY comfortable and convenient stay overall. Nice touch with the selection of yukata in chic designs—it adds a bit of personality to the experience. The hotel also offers free-flow alcohol and small bites throughout the day, you need to be careful not to over drink or overeat. Both the dinner and breakfast buffets stand out, offering a wide variety of options with solid quality across the board. That said, the in-room outdoor bath (our booking) felt unnecessary. In our view, it’s not worth the extra cost, as it doesn’t come close to the full experience of the main onsen downstairs.

GGuest UserWe absolutely cannot contain our elation when recalling our recent stay at this remarkable hotel. From the moment we stepped into the elevator adorned with personalized name cards, my husband and I were enveloped in the warm embrace of hospitality. The attention to detail and the genuine kindness of the staff made us feel like VIP guests. They also thoughtfully provided a bucket for us to indulge in the glowing enchantment of firecrackers and even tidied the mess up afterwards. But the best memory of our stay here was definitely the culinary experience given by the chef extraordinaire — Master Chef Matsuki. His creations were nothing short of a gastronomic revelation. Each dish was a testament to his unwavering dedication and profound respect for the ingredients. Oh, the flavors — titillating all our taste buds in every bite. And the generosity of Chef Matsuki in sharing his culinary wisdom, guiding us on how to savor each morsel, elevated the entire dining experience to sheer perfection. The language barrier was no obstacle to the remarkable team of staff members who graced us with their presence. Their command of the English language was commendable, and even those who were not entirely fluent went above and beyond to cater to our every whim and need. Their genuine desire to assist us was palpable, leaving us feeling truly valued and cared for. I am already making plans to return with my beloved family, as I know they too deserve to bask in the unparalleled warmth and luxury that this establishment exudes. This hotel has set the bar impossibly high, redefining the meaning of hospitality and creating memories that will be cherished for a lifetime. So if you seek a hotel experience that transcends mere accommodation and transforms into a symphony of opulence, impeccable service, and culinary artistry, then look no further. This is the epitome of hospitality, a sanctuary where dreams come true, and I wholeheartedly recommend it to anyone who craves an unforgettable journey of indulgence and delight.

TTrissyIt was out of our expectation. It is a standalone apartment that has everything you need. It is better to register all the guest’s information online via the email. That will make your check-in more convenient. We were impressed with the backyard. We planned to have dinner there. Unfortunately, it was cold and raining. We definitely wanna stay there again. It’s at a very great location, close to the shopping center, and the bus stop of Kumano hiking, just in a few mins walk. Even you don’t do hiking, it is also good for a bunch of friends for a retreat.

TThomasThe hotel is situated at a secluded corner of Wakayama prefecture. It is much preferable to drive here rather than relying on the infrequent hotel shuttle. Public transport is otherwise non existent. There are no restaurants around the hotel. However the hotel provides delicious meals with abundant fresh seafood. The in room dining experience is superb. The hotel staff service is impeccable. The room has a spectacular sea view allowing you to see the sunset on clear days. The onsen also faces the sea which provides a relaxing experience. A downside is that the hotel does not seem to sanitize the slippers for indoor use. All hotel guests had to change to their slippers to access their indoor facilities.
