Hotel Isafjördur - Torg
4/540 Reviews
We spent two nights in Isafjordur, and enjoyed our accommodations at the Hotel Isafjordur. There are actually four locations managed by the same company, and they call them all Hotel Isafjordur, with secondary names to distinguish them. We stayed at the main location (nicknamed Hotel Torg on their website) which is right in the center of town, across from the harbor. There is a restaurant on the ground level, with sweeping views of the water and hills. We didn't try the restaurant for lunch or dinner, but the breakfast buffet was quite good, and included with our stay. Rooms are on the smallish side, but very comfortable. The sole elevator was cramped. But really, the most important thing is location, and this really is close to everything. A good value for your time in the westfjords.

We arrived pretty late and only stayed for a single night but it's one of those places/hotels where staying longer would give it more justice - nevertheless we appreciated the very nice and friendly staff, good breakfast and overall the entire property - pretty cool location right on the shoreline with a view of the Grimsey Island (there is a small placard with a story of the island right in front of the hotel which was a cool short read). We opted with an apartment which was a bit pricier than I would be willing to pay at about $260 for 1 night (breakfast included) - but the price isn't why I give 4/5, namely the issue was the noise - basically in the 2 story building where the apartments are located you can hear people walking above you and it was annoying until they finally went to sleep and same thing in the morning when they woke up - I would simply either want to stay on the 2nd floor to eliminate that issue (our wooden floors at home make sounds too so we are perfectly familiar with it) since you would be ”the noise maker” at your own time/schedule as opposed to be adjusting to someone else's sleeping schedule :) or stay in the other buildings, even if with the shared bathroom (in a retrospective). Don't get me wrong - I would totally stay here again as overall the place is perfect, just skip the apartments on 1st floor (see pictures with building showing rooms 15 to 21) and go (if possible) with 2nd floor or simply stay in one of those single level buildings - for what it helps our room was #16 and that's where the issue with noise was, especially above the bed area :( the room has plenty of windows but they all literally go right into the parking and the first entrance of the building so needless to say you have them always closed when you are in the room.

Loved this place. Patreksfjordur is just a quaint and beautiful little town to spend some time in. Our room had a fantastic view of the fjord and breakfast was one of the best we had in Iceland. Room was quiet too, we both had a great night of sleep. There's a couple restaurants within walking distance. The red sand beach and cliffs are both relatively close and I'd recommend doing both if you've made it this far!
