Lough Bawn House
4.9/519 Reviews
We stayed in Lough Bawn for two nights in July 2022 while attending a nearby wedding. Other than Verity’s family, we were the only guests and were treated to an exceptional stay by a truly wonderful host. The setting is absolutely magnificent with stunning and uninterrupted views over the lake. The gardens are also beautiful. On arrival, we were treated to some lovely lemon drizzle cake and tea in the drawing room. Our bedroom overlooked the lake and was beautifully and uniquely furnished. We were lucky enough to be able to have dinner in Lough Bawn on our first night which was excellent. Breakfast on both mornings was also delicious. Verity and her family are brilliant hosts - we couldn’t recommend Lough Bawn highly enough.
Castle Arch Hotel

Very friendly staff when I arrived and plenty of free parking. I got a spotlessly clean room with plenty of workspace, the coffee maker in the room is a nice touch. The hotel is only 10 mins walk from the town centre. As it was a quiet Tuesday night I ate in the hotel restaurant which was good value. Breakfast, included with the room, was served in the main restaurant and it was nice to have a freshly cooked fry up, not the usual lukewarm buffet most hotels seem to have now. Looking forward to staying again in a few weeks time.
Ardboyne Hotel

Overall The Ardboyne Hotel is a wonderful place. The location is excellent, lots of parking and gardens lovely. Inside the are many changes still my last visit. The new decor looks beautiful and I can see there are improvements being made throughout the hotel, not all complete as yet but obviously that whole hotel is going through an upgrade. The biggest asset this hotel has is its staff, there is nothing too much for them to do to make your stay as enjoyable as possible, this really is their jewel in the crown.

The Newgrange Hotel
3.8/584 Reviews
Had a one night stay here as we were visiting friends in the local are. I've good and and bad points about our stay. I'll start off with the bad. Far too expensive for what we got,our room wasn't the best. Very outdated and didn't feel clean. The sheets were clean and beds comfortable but the bathroom wasn't,broken tiles and rusty stains. The arm chair was disgusting, stained and old! Would not sit on it!! The shower was old and I just couldn't shower in it,it just didn't feel clean. Next morning when we were having breakfast there were a very disrupted guest who was verbally arguing with another guest, (I know you can't blame the hotel for a guests behavior)!!! However they let her carry on being disrupted for a very long time before they asked her to calm down in which didnt work. The guest contined to be verbally aggressive and no body enjoyed their breakfast due to this.and one lady expressed to me she felt uncomfortable. In my opinion the guest should have being asked to leave! The waiting staff were very young and fair enough probably didn't have the experience to deal with this, the management that was present kept telling the waiting staff what they were doing wrong in front of everybody where she should have done privately and it was only very trivial what she was criticising about she was more bothered about the trivial little things than the fact there was a very verbally disrupted guest!!!! Good points: breakfast was excellent, great choice and very fresh. Reception bar and waiting staff very friendly. Lovely bar and lovely reception area. But if the hotel is going to charge the prices they are charging in the future they really need to improve the standards of their rooms.
Pillo Hotel & Leisure Club
3.9/571 Reviews
Just back from our annual overnight stay at Pillo hotel and another great stay. We go as a family of 5 with 3 children under 10, each year and always book a one night stay with emerald park tickets included as it works out the best value for us. This allows us to travel down at our leisure, have dinner and a relaxing evening before getting an early start to hit the park the next day. This years’ trip was excellent as we have found it to be every year. The hotel is located close to emerald park, maybe a 5 min drive, so it is really handy location wise. The family rooms vary depending on availability when you book, sometimes it can be smaller rooms, still able to sleep 5 but without a lot of extra space, and other times it can be the more spacious family rooms which can easily accommodate 5 and provide extra space. The more spacious rooms are naturally better when travelling with children but anytime we have stayed, whichever room type we have been in, has been comfortable and clean. Reception staff are always really helpful and although the hotel is always busy, they take the time to make sure you have everything you need. The Time restaurant on site is a lovely restaurant with friendly staff and a welcoming and relaxed atmosphere. The menu had just recently been changed and there were some other changes to the restaurant such as the open view of the kitchen which was a nice change. We had a 3 course family meal and it was some of the nicest food I have eaten out. The evening menu had something for everyone, lots of choice for adults and children and the quality of the food was amazing. Big thanks to the waiting staff including Aaron, Ciara, Jessica, Evie and Oxana (hope I haven’t left anyone out!) for such wonderful service and going out of their way to make sure we had a lovely evening. They were busy and flat out working but nothing was too much trouble. We didn’t make it to the swimming pool on this visit but this is also a great part of the hotel and the kids love it. We will be back next summer again and will look forward to it knowing this is a consistently good hotel and has everything we need for a family getaway!
The Johnstown Estate

Stunning experience from start to finish. Arun on reception checking us in was an absolute pleasure to deal with. Lovely and smiley, kind and so helpful! The grounds were lovely, hotel gorgeous also. Food and cocktails were delicious. Waiter in the fire and salt restaurant (young Irish man, early-mid 20s (?)) was really really lovely, as was a young waitress with a dark ponytail. Your staff are a credit to you. Room was clean, bright, modern - couldn’t fault it. Spa was lovely too - a must if you can! High pitched noise woke us around midnight but that was an alarm from one of the neighbouring houses and so was not within the realm of the hotel’s responsibilities so cannot fault this - but may be an issue if you’re a light sleeper in the back of the hotel. Overall a really lovely stay in a fabulous hotel and I would definitely recommend. Already looking at packages to return soon.

Trim Castle Hotel
4.3/597 Reviews
We recently visited Trim Castle Hotel as we wanted to go back and show our daughters where we were married. We were so pleased to see that the hotel was just as good as we remembered! The girls were delighted to see a teepee and some gifts in the room. We were also really impressed by the size of the family room, which had a king size bed, another double, a sofa bed as well as the teepee. We ate in the hotel restaurant, taking advantage of the kids eat free deal. There was a great choice of food for both adults and on the children’s menu and we all really enjoyed the meal. We had booked a private cinema experience which was just amazing! With plenty of snacks and drinks provided, it was a real treat for all the family! Breakfast didn’t disappoint either - delicious food and super attentive staff always on hand to tip up our drinks! An absolutely amazing hotel with beautiful views of the Castle. We all really enjoyed our stay and will be back again soon!
