Great 1 night stay with my partner, room was a great size, clean and comfortable. Staff were polite and helpful, checking in and out was a breeze, lot of complaints regarding breakfast that I have read but the offering was good at least for our stay. If I had to make any complaints it would be the loud plumbing but honestly this didn’t bother us much. Ultimately we really enjoyed our stay and would absolutely stay again in the future.

Very nice hotel, great environment, the smell in the room makes people feel very relaxed. But when I checked out, the hotel made a wrong deduction from me and has not dealt with this matter, which has resulted in me not receiving my refund yet.

Great location right next to the station so we could drop off our bags and head into the town. The staff were very helpful. Would recommend and stay in again.

Right next to the English Channel, with an unbeatable sea view room, very close to the White Cliffs. The hotel room was spacious and clean. There were a lot of people when checking in, so we waited for a while and checked out at 10:30 in the morning.

Came over a little queer while away rang emergency services for help, that was last week ha ha. Apart from that just look after yourself always knowing your on holiday. Grin and bear it. Only here once I'm told. Couldn't fault the place, I tried but couldn't. Ps better than NHS food any day of the Milena. Keep up the good work. Pps if you don't agree don't read then.

Pretty hotel in a great location. The hotel is a few minutes and just a short walk from restaurants and pubs on the High Street. Rye is quite a compact town. Our room overlooked the car park at the back of the hotel. Not the best view but the room (deluxe double) was spacious. Breakfast was cooked to order and they were able to accommodate a coeliac diet (gluten free options). I would however recommend they keep a separate toaster at the back for gluten free bread only. They were able to provide gf bread for me but couldn’t toast it.

We selected this hotel as it looked good value for money, which generally it was, but is worth noting that their breakfast is NOT a buffet as advertised, it is one main of their menu and Tea, Coffee, juice or water. Their buffet section was toast and cornflakes, not what we expected, as website stated continental / English buffet, but what we did order for our breakfast was OK and was what to be expected. We had a room below ground level, which at times we could hear what sounded like kitchen staff through the shower trap, guessing it's echoing through the pipes. The room was clean, but not spotless, again expected with the price. We would recommend this hotel if you were on a budget and didn't have any high expectations.

We stayed in a 'cosy double'. The room is very run down. The wallpaper is stained and peeling off and the carpets did not feel very clean. The walls are extremely thin, meaning you can hear people walking along the corridor and it makes the door lock bang which sounds like someone is coming into your room. The headboard of our bed was positioned right next to the elevator which we could hear all night as people were going up and down. However, this is reflected in the price and I can't comment on the experience of a better room. The staff were polite and friendly on check in. Room amenities included a kettle for tea and coffee, a hairdryer, and an ironing board.

We had a great experience at this hotel! The welcome cookie was delicious and just what we needed after a long drive down from London. We were celebrating our anniversary, and they surprised us with some towel art and cake! The room was spacious and clean. Breakfast buffet had great variety and a beautiful view.  Only comments would be the lack of complementary water and mini-fridge the room. The AC took a while to become cold, but it got there eventually.  Overall, we had a great trip and don’t regret picking this hotel!

GGuest UserWe decided to stay at The Grand as a 3 night getaway as my partner is currently pregnant. The service from arrival to departure was first rate, and the hotel was beautiful. Our room (which we upgraded to have a sea view) was newly renovated, with a free standing bath, sofa, coffee table and two tub chairs. The bathroom included a spacious shower and his/her sinks. Everything was spotless. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it to anyone. PS: All the mess in the photo was ours...!

WWillHastingsThe Leonardo Waterfront was the perfect choice for meeting family in Brighton. We felt relaxed immediately - the staff are friendly and helpful, and the foyer (despite being huge and open plan) has lots of cosy areas for a drink or meal. The rooms were spacious, very well-equipped and clean - one with a great sea view and the other with an internal window overlooking the foyer, which sounds unusual and potentially dark, but was actually lovely and, due to the glass ceiling, not oppressive at all. We had everything we needed; large comfy bed, good shower, fancy coffee, a fridge, a guide book to Brighton and complimentary water.  The location is great too. The main entrance is on seafront, close to the pier, and the rear doors lead straight to the Lanes, with lots of lovely shops, bars and restaurants within metres. The gym, pool, steam room and sauna were nice to use as well - like the rest of the hotel, clean and well-looked after with attentive staff. The only minor issue was that our key card disconnected a few times despite keeping it away from phone and electronics. It wasn’t too bad having to go to Reception to have it reset from the first floor, but might’ve been annoying from a room the fourth floor! Everything else more than made up for that though - thank you to all the staff for a fantastic stay!

AAlvinDCFantastic stay! Highly recommend. My partner and I stayed for a night. Arrived rather late and the staff were still up waiting for us. Acknowledged us by name and showed us up to our sea-facing room. Clean, well furnished, minimalist modern and spacious feel. Woke up to a fantastic unblocked sea view in our large window. Breakfast was available to all in the kitchen/ pantry from 7.30-10 with a more than decadent spread of your staples, hot fresh brewed tea and coffee. Minor drawback was the slightly longer walking distance from the city (about 15mins), no toothbrush available, and had I not read up online ahead of time, I’d never be able to find the place as there is (as many others have also mentioned) no clear sign that says “The Halcyon”. So to anyone to follow in our steps, this is honestly a beautiful place to stay. Excellent value for money away from the noise of the town centre, wonderful hospitable staff for a lovely guest experience, delightful & scrumptious brekkie, cosy and clean modernistic rooms & gorgeous views to wake up to. No hassle checking in or out. Just be mindful to look out for the big words that says “HOTEL” and you’re very likely at the right spot. (Checkout photos 1&2) Walk in without fear and be greeted by warm smiles and a fantastic experience all around.

GGuest UserAmazing location right by the beach so some rooms would be overlooking the promenade and coast. The rooms are tired and decoration needs to be updated although the reception areas look good. The beds and pillows were VERY comfy! Better than some travelodge, so a good night sleep. So if you can look past the poor paint, the £37 a night twin room will be a bargain. I would return at this price, but not more expensive. Its not the usual high quality or standard that I expected from Best Western chain. More a budget option. £7 is for a continental breakfast so this was declined. Tea and coffee in room was good. Late arrival but checking in was swift and very helpful. Free but limited overnight parking outside but you have to get a ticket (the hotel can do this for you for £2.25) from 8am so if you want a lie in, you need to book and pay when you check in.

GGuest UserThe outside of the hotel is very scruffy, but this is because it is in the process of being refurbished. The rooms themselves were excellent, clean , modern (although the see through toilet door is a bit kinky in room 4.) Although being warned of the step inside the passageway to room 4 my wife tripped up it and the light needs improving or warning tape put on the step. We had to bring the date forward of our visit due to the impending death of a near relative and was very disappointed in having to pay a surcharge of £48.00 per room for the convenience of doing this although we believe the hotel did not have any reservations for these rooms, so could have waived the surcharge. We did not have occasion to eat at the hotel excepting for breakfast which was excellent.
