First time visiting the RIU karamboa and what a experience it was. From checking in to leaveing the staff have been nothing but friendly, the cleaners, receptionists, bar staff, entertainers etc..... All very polite, happy going people. The food is amazing, such a variety aswell. Food I've never had and it was spot on. The pool bar staff are the most entertaining people you will ever meet, bar opens at 10:30am and from opening to close they are always smiling, laughing and singing to the music, they just make you feel so welcome. The hotel it self is 5* rated and we've had a 5*service throughout, amazing 10 days we've had and will definitely be returning when the new refurb has happened. Obrigada :)

Plus Points - Brilliant location, more or less on the beach, great views Really nice rooftop bar. Negative Points - The rooftop bar opens when it feels like it. Every time I left the room and tried to return my keycard didnt work....every time.. Air con with all the strength of an asthmatic six year old on an egg and spoon race. The bathroom lock jammed, which meant I was unable to use the loo over night..! The guy who repaired it knock the hell out of it with a hammer, it snapped off and the door opened. ”Fixed” he said quite proudly. Shower tap feel off onto my foot. Wasn't a single clean surface everyone was scuffed. Breakfast, dried bread, reconstructed ham, unidentified cheese. TV it turned on and 3 channels were available, very nostalgic, took me back to my youth. So in conclusion, as someone else said on here.....OK for somewhere to sleep.

Been to Cape Verde before but not this hotel, definitely not a 5 star hotel, is in need of an update particularly the rooms. We were in block 8 the ceiling fan didn’t work so it was replaced, the handle on the balcony door came off, the towel rail outside was supposed to have been repaired but I don’t think so, a good start to our holiday. We didn’t let this spoil our holiday though, the beach is brilliant, maybe a bit breezy, but was welcome, pity you can’t swim in the sea it’s always red flagged not like the other side of the island. The hotel is clean, the gardens well maintained, could do with air con in reception area/bar area. Can’t fault the food in the main restaurant, plenty to choose from, food being cooked and replenished all the time.Tried the Italian, was ok, pity it’s a buffet style one. Our only disappointment was the evening entertainment which was diabolical, the run up entertainment was a solo singer who was terrible, plus the proper evening entertainment is advertised as from 9 till 10.15 but it only runs for 45 mins, why??? The animation team do most of it but again it wants looking at. On the whole we had a decent holiday, but would not recommend the hotel to anyone or return ourselves as we like to go somewhere different every year. Having visited the other two hotels on Boa Vista that is the island done for us
