I initially overlooked the peeling paint on the walls and the lack of disposable toothbrushes and toothpaste when I checked in. But then, at breakfast, I picked up a small steamed bun, and as I took a bite, I saw mold spots... that's just unacceptable! The chicken also tasted sour, which is something I absolutely cannot tolerate!

I was a guest in this hotel, between December 22 and 27. I booked an Elegant Queen Room. However, I have to say that there is not much elegant about it. There are no slippers in the room. Air conditioners external units are placed literally two meters from your windows, and as you can see, and there are so many of them. I strongly recommend buying earplugs before checking in. The room was 517, so if possible please avoid it. One more thing. Me and my partner had sexual intercourse, and in one moment, I saw a person one floor above, clearly visible through the windows. That's not even other apartment, it is some unfinished space, that looks ruined. The curtains simply were not fully pulled, my mistake, but I didn't expect to see random person above 😅 There is no locker, so your things would have to be placed all over the room.
Staff is very nice, and super kind. Expect warm welcome every time you move by reception desk. I bought some sausages in local market, and I asked the staff if they would keep it in the fridge for me. They accepted. However, I forgot to take it when I checked out. I asked them if they could send me the package to my city, and they did it promptly. Good service, truly.
The breakfast is one of the best I have ever seen in a hotel.
Location is very close to the Bund, Financial center, and subway station (line 14, Yuanshen Road) is almost opposite the hotel.
All together, room is definitely subpar, and it doesn't justify the price. Everything else is near perfect.

Excellent hotel, very well-managed, and the service is great. The facilities are complete, it's very clean, and the environment is elegant. I'm extremely satisfied, five-star rating, haha! The hotel breakfast is very rich, they even have steak, awesome!

The free airport shuttle service is incredibly convenient! I took a late flight and didn't get my luggage until after midnight. The shuttle runs every half hour, which was a warm welcome, haha. Both the shuttle drivers and the front desk staff were really nice. The drivers helped with my luggage, and when the front desk agent found out I wasn't leaving until noon the next day, she specifically arranged a room further inside the hotel to ensure I wouldn't be disturbed by guests catching early shuttles. The hotel breakfast is simple, but more than enough to fill you up. The room was huge, super comfortable for one person, and overall, the value for money is outstanding.

The front desk service at Kempinski perfectly embodies the quality of a five-star hotel! I accidentally booked the wrong check-in date before departure. When I contacted the Lady in red Eva in advance to communicate, she patiently verified the information, actively helped coordinate the change, and maintained a gentle attitude throughout without the slightest impatience.
Upon arrival, she even took the initiative to upgrade me to a higher-floor room. She explained the room facilities in detail and comprehensively, even going through each free drink in the minibar one by one. Later, when I wanted to book the hotel's fitness center, front desk staff Mia immediately helped confirm the reservation and informed me.
From the pre-arrival communication to check-in and check-out, I experienced professional and thoughtful service at every step. The professional quality and service awareness of the staff are worthy of praise. I highly recommend it to every friend visiting Shanghai!

Spacious and bright, clean and tidy, the decor still feels current, and the service quality is high with complete facilities. The front desk service is warm and professional; a special shout-out to Heidi!
The heated pool temperature was very comfortable, and the lanes were a bit smaller than they appeared in the pictures, but the facilities were complete (though the lockers had a slight musty smell from water damage), and the view was beautiful.
I got lazy and didn't visit the gym, but at first glance, the equipment seemed comprehensive.
The in-room hardware was top-notch, though the software had a few minor flaws (understandable given it was renovated 10 years ago). The bathtub actually filled up in 5-7 minutes, not the 10 minutes stated.
Considering the price, it was a very good experience, and I'll definitely try more of their dining options next time I visit.
(The Milk Dragon figures I got from the five boxes were so fun, but my 700 spent on the year-end event all went to waste, **youka)

The hotel was easy to find. Upon check-in, they offered an airport transfer service, which was a nice touch. The room quality was fair for the price, offering good value for money. The airport transfer was a bus, and it departed punctually, taking less than twenty minutes to reach the airport, leaving plenty of time before my flight. Overall, I was very satisfied.

A top-tier luxury experience on the Huangpu River, Pudong Shangri-La truly lives up to its reputation! Choosing Pudong Shangri-La for my Shanghai trip was a fantastic decision; from check-in to check-out, it was filled with pleasant surprises. It truly deserves its status as a benchmark five-star hotel in Shanghai.
The hotel's location is absolutely superb, nestled in the heart of Lujiazui. It's within walking distance of iconic landmarks like the Oriental Pearl Tower and Shanghai Tower, and right next door to Super Brand Mall, offering a one-stop solution for shopping and dining. Metro Line 2 is also just a stone's throw away, making it incredibly convenient for both business and leisure travelers.
What truly captivates is the unbeatable river view. The floor-to-ceiling windows in the guest rooms offer panoramic vistas of both banks of the Huangpu River. By day, you can admire the elegant Bund architectural complex, and by night, the dazzling Lujiazui skyline. Every photo taken effortlessly looks like a cinematic masterpiece.

Hotel location is near the shanghai station so it's convenient if you bought train tickets departing from shanghai station. All hotel staff I met have been really friendly and helpful, very patient with my questions/ requests and also helping me find my tons of parcels everytime I ask for them (parcels are delivered to hotel front desk and they keep a log of ur parcels so it's very easy for parcel collection - you dont even have to look for them yourselves). Room was not very big but I would say its sufficient for 1 or 2 persons max. 1 thing to note however is that the hotel uses centralised heating so for those who came from hotter countries (like me) may not be used to it. I booked a room with windows specifically so that I can have cool air in the room, surroundings get quiet at night so i can still sleep even with the windows open. Room will be better with a mini fridge. Also, their food delivery robot doesnt seem to be working so all the food were delivered by the rider themselves personally (they have to ask for access card from the concierge staff). Also, no mini fridge in the room. Still a recommended stay for a chain hotel in shanghai, the price is acceptable and service is great!
Came here for a conference, and even though it was very busy, the front desk, room service, and dining were all excellent and well-organized. The hotel is very well-managed. The night view of the bridge is also stunning. I'd highly recommend this place to friends, whether for a conference or a vacation.

AAnnie517I had decided early on that I wanted to spend Christmas at the Waldorf Astoria this year, and it turns out I made the perfect choice! The Christmas atmosphere was incredibly strong, and the giant Christmas tree in the main hall was absolutely stunning. The service was excellent. Perhaps because so many people were coming in just to take photos, the staff couldn't keep an eye on everyone, so no one helped with my luggage when I first arrived. However, while I was waiting in line to check in, a staff member quickly noticed and proactively helped arrange my bags. A lady also led me to my room and explained everything along the way. This time, I also tried the Sunday brunch buffet; the oysters and langoustines were incredibly fresh and sweet, and my favorite dessert was the Mont Blanc. The exclusive concierges arranged by the hotel, Echole, Eva, and Danny, provided impeccable and attentive service throughout. My experience at the Waldorf Astoria on the Bund was nothing short of perfect.
NNWJThis was my first time in China. Before arriving in Shanghai, we visited Hangzhou and Suzhou. The Mercure Shanghai was by far the most comfortable place we stayed.
For the first two nights, the guests next door were playing mobile games all night, not sleeping and banging on tables. When we spoke to customer service, they immediately arranged a room change for us. They even helped us move all our belongings and luggage, so we could just relax when we got back.
There's also a washing machine and dryer on the second floor, which is super convenient. Another thoughtful touch is the complimentary simple late-night snack available in the evenings. The bathroom even has a bidet!
I'm so satisfied! Oh, and the hotel also offers a free shuttle bus that can take you to the subway station, Yu Garden, and other places. I'm incredibly pleased and will definitely stay here again next time.
BBenDoverrrOverall a great stay at Novotel Shanghai Pudong Chuansha. The room was clean and spacious, and the robot delivery service was a nice touch. Service was generally very good. The hotel is also conveniently located near Shanghai Disneyland, which is a plus.
Breakfast was quite basic with limited choices, and the lifts can be slow at times. Suitable for couples or staying with a spouse and children, but lacks privacy when sharing with parents or siblings. The toilet and shower area is very small with no space to hang clothes inside. The bed faces the mirror outside the bathroom, affecting privacy.
Despite these minor issues, it was a comfortable stay and good value overall.
GGuest UserExcellent reception desk assistants, translating through phone app. English / Chinese
Coffee /tea even massage chairs in reception.
Room: Fantastic
Beds were huge & comfortable - we had an upgrade to a larger room. The shower and shower toiletries were so refreshing.
Towels were lovely soft & clean.
Breakfast was the best I have had for a long time. Lived the rice, fried eggs, noodles , fruit vegetables. Even clams one morning. Great variety of drinks.
The chief and staff were very happy & helpful.
Extremely clean.
I used the laundry room which also had a tumble dryer. This was useful due to travelling on to Beijing afterwards.
The other family rooms have slides and are duplex.
Sue the swimming pool is great in the summer.
Excellent price , excellent choice for Families going to Disneyland and other local trips.
Loved being able to go along the local street to see Shanghai local food, shops and life.
Seems to be a family run business which is lovely to support.
Location is great for the local shops , food, 7/11 supermarket for snacks & drinks
Restaurants and food for locals which was delicious and a great price.
Shuttle bus excellent. Taxi ( Didi) was £3 back from Disneyland . £11 to Shanghai Greenhouse Gardens ( evening ticket £5.40) this is an amazing trip not to be missed.
JJeremyKeaWe had a very pleasant stay at this hotel. The rooms were clean and offered enough space for a comfortable stay. The staff was friendly and always willing to help. The location is convenient, with a metro station about a 10-minute walk away, making it easy to explore the city. There’s also a mall nearby with some restaurants, which was very handy. Overall, a great base for visiting Shanghai.

AAmy Nuengruthai PathumwongseAs this is The Ritz-Carlton, expectations are naturally high — and they were certainly met. From the moment I arrived, the check-in experience was warm and welcoming, accompanied by genuine smiles.
I would especially like to compliment Chris (I remember her name because it reminds me of Christmas). She was exceptionally friendly, helpful, and thoughtful, showing true attentiveness and care. Her service perfectly reflected the high standards and gracious hospitality that The Ritz-Carlton is known for.
One small tip for future guests: it may be best to avoid corner rooms. While they are comfortable, the view can be limited, and the room door is very close to the neighboring room. You may occasionally hear noise when the neighboring door opens or closes. Aside from this minor point, everything else was perfectly fine.
AAnnisidelvxingbijiFacilities: Compared to some of the hotels in the old Bund area, Banyan Tree is a newcomer, so the overall facilities are newer. The rooms are spacious and comfortable, all over 60 square meters, which is excellent for this location.
Service: When checking in, since there weren't two adjacent rooms available in our original booking (we were a family of 4 adults and 1 child), they proactively upgraded our room type. The service during our stay was also very attentive. As it was my husband's and mother-in-law's birthdays the day before and the last day of our stay, respectively, they even sent us a small cake, which was a very thoughtful touch.
Ambiance: With Christmas approaching, the hotel already had a strong festive atmosphere, especially the Christmas tree in the garden. It looked absolutely beautiful when lit up at night and was perfect for photos, haha.
GGuest UserThe hotel is located by the river and has a nice environment. It is very comfortable to take a walk by the river at night. The room layout is relatively reasonable. Although there are no windows to the outdoors, there are artificial landscapes, which feels good. The breakfast is rich in variety, and there are also small snacks to eat in the evening. It is very convenient for robots to deliver takeout to the room. The staff are also warm and friendly. Overall, it is a pleasant experience.
GGuest UserHighly recommended. Mr. Li provided outstanding service throughout my stay. He helped me with multiple things, including changing rooms and finding items I needed. My Chinese isn’t very good, but he always listened carefully and communicated in a way I could understand. What impressed me most was that he assisted me right away even at midnight when I needed to change rooms. He genuinely gives his best to every guest.
The hotel does have a few minor downsides and some facilities were a bit broken, and it’s slightly far from the subway but the excellent service made my stay truly memorable.
