Hawksbill Resort Antigua - All Inclusive
3.7/584 Reviews
Apologies for repeating the WelshGirlCardiff review from Aug 2022 - but she is spot on! Hawksbill is a 3-star resort and does not pretend to be a 5-star 'Sandals' resort with regimentally lined beach umbrellas hiding the natural beauty of the Caribbean coastline. The four beaches each offer something slightly different from easy swimming areas, to rocky snorkelling opportunities and the beautiful clothing optional Eden beach. The latter is the longest and less than ten people on the beach at any one time. A water was available from the cooler brought down from the resort. The food variety was fine and plenty of it, with catering and table staff friendly and accommodating. The requirement to book you evening meal preference was no issue with no strict enforcement, probably just an efficient way of gauging the cooking requirements for the evening. Vegetarians may feel aggrieved at the choice but for us this was not an issue! Caribbean flavours served throughout the day with the bars serving a variety of local cocktails along with the more familiar ones. All served with smiles and friendliness. The little Sugar Mill shop in an old Martello Tower on the resort sold tobacco, drink and souvenirs with a lovely helpful lady always chatting away and cheerful. Natural beauty oozes through the resort with goats roaming, pigs visiting the beach to cool down, the occasional mongoose scampering around, ducks scavenging with a variety of birds providing birdsong and occasionally raiding the sugar sachets in the rooms if you left the door open! The two cats collectively having 7 and a half legs, know how to cajole guests for some nibbles. There are many reviews pointing out specific issues they had with the resort: Paul M - You have to pay for water?? If you have a bottle there is free water from water coolers around the resort. Chervil R - Slow WIFI? It worked, but you have Caribbean beaches, azure blue sea and sunshine is this really an issue? Comments about staff being rude and unhelpful must have been visiting a different place! We booked the all-inclusive 14 day break through a British Airways package. Airport taxi transfer was efficient with a guided tour all the way to the resort. Welcome at the resort was friendly, informative and we were escorted to our beach front bungalow. 12 steps to the beach, 18 steps to the sea. Yes, the rooms were a little tired and the resort was closing for 5 months for a refurbishment, but did it matter. No, not one bit.
Adults Only, Royalton Chic Antigua
4.8/55 Reviews
Although this hotel has just opened, the standard is definitely not 5 star. More like 3 star boarding on 4 star. No hot water for 3 days, the bar run out of rum and glasses and took over 2 hours to be delivered to the bar. Broken umbrellas on the beach took 3-4 days to be replaced. Restaurants were a first come first served basis unless you paid extra to be diamond club, Where you can make a reservation. We were refused a table twice as said they were booked. When we went back later to see if there was availability was refused, even though there were empty tables!! Not sure how this will work if the hotel was full, as the hotel was only full for 2 days out of the 14 days we stayed. The entertainment was ok. The vibe team were a bit disappointing. Trying to make this hotel in to a party hotel, but it’s not working. A lot of people complaining about the music being played in the afternoon and how it was repeated each day. Evening entertainment was ok, better some nights than other. Antigua night was great. I know this may seem a negative post but it wasn’t all bad, we did have a lovely time, although will not return to this hotel. Management need to up there game and get these issues sorted.
The Villas at Sunset Lane
4.7/541 Reviews
We had a wonderful stay with Jacquie and her team at the villas at sunset lane. The rooms and bathrooms were large, well equipped with comfy beds and efficient a/c and ceiling fan. Jacquie is an amazing host and an excellent cook. Continental breakfasts were lovely but we did treat ourselves to omelettes for breakfast a couple of times and they were amazing. We also ate dinner at the villas in two occasions and they were very tasty. We certainly didn't go hungry. The villas are very clean and the staff team are friendly and helpful. Pool is lovely and also kept extremely clean. Jacquie is a perfect host who helped with sorting out the puncture we got on our hire car plus made dinner reservations and excursion reservations. The area is quiet but is 10 mins walk from the beach and a short drive into St Johns. Best rum punch on the island!!! I would definitely stay there again.
Heritage Hotel

The nearest hotel to the city center, it is very convenient to eat around shopping, recommend the big banana next to it. Pizza and pasta are delicious. Downstairs is the pier, ready to go by boat to the sea, the facilities in the room are generally like, I actually gave a small double up and down two floors, the bed is upstairs, it is very troublesome to go down the stairs at night, and the doors and windows are very troublesome. Very rudimentary, especially the lock, it’s so worrying! Fortunately, I have lived for three days, but Antigua is a very safe country.

Hodges Bay Resort & Spa
4.1/579 Reviews
I first visited Hodges on Honeymoon in April 2021 and went back asap (June 2021) for a girls trip which was repeated again this summer. If you are reconnecting with your SO or having an Eat Pray Love moment, Hodges is waiting for you. Take the time to indulge, heal, and adventure all in one location. Private bars, beach, infinity pool, new seaside hot tub, and the most perfect photo ops right on resort without the feel, look, or impression of a large resort. I really enjoyed yoga on my private deck with the sunrise, and never had an empty glass or plate (unless by choice lol). Check out the spa, private island/bar at Prickly Pear, or Fix your Life exchanging stories at Drift the pool side bar, there is usually an opportunity to fall into a dance party when you ready. Antigua and Hodges is like coming home. If you haven't been, its time to Fix your Life ;)

Connie's Comfort Suites
3.7/55 Reviews
Connie’s Comfort Suites was a great find at a great price... would definitely stay here again! A great base to explore the island. Connie’s has fantastically friendly people that make you feel at home and everything I needed including comfortable bed, kitchen area (fridge/freezer, oven/hob, microwave, kettle, toaster, well stocked with utensils, plates, cutlery, etc), dining table/chairs, sofa, TV and good WiFi (video calls). They also offer laundry service. Little shop next door for basics and big supermarket/pharmacy at Wood’s Mall in 10min walk. Food options Toy toys &KFC within 5min walk and st John’s center in 20min. I used QuikServe app (similar to Uber eats) to have food delivered to the room ! They also have rental cars which brings closest beach within 5min drive. Great find and feel that I’ve seen the local side of Antigua that you wouldn’t get at an all-inclusive beach front resort. Tip: some of the big resorts offer day passes if you want to lounge by a pool for a day while in Antigua.
