Golden Tulip Aix EN Provence
4.2/569 Reviews
The Golden Tulip chain of hotels renovated this venue a couple of months ago, and created a very efficient, modern and comfortable hotel, very suitable for business and en-route stays. It's located next to the autoroute from Aix-en-Provence to Lyon. Downtown Aix is about a 10 mins. drive. The beds (as in all Golden Tulip hotels) are amongst the most comfortable we've ever slept in! Bathroom modern and efficient. The staff consist of mostly young, enthusiastic people with a modern attitude to service. Definitely a hotel that differs itself positively from the standard en-route French hotel-style! The restaurant should be upgraded somewhat. The menu is limited and as downtown is a bit out, guests should be able to have a bit more choice in the menu.
Hôtel des Augustins

Beautiful hotel , perfect location in an old former monastic building round the corner from the main avenue Cour Mirabeau, within walking distance of the stations and info as well as the gorgeous galleries, museums and buildings of the old town. Very kind and helpful staff. Because of the Rugby World Cup the hotel was unusually full at that time of year and we could not stay as long as we wished. So it was difficult to book even with kind help from Reception, and some slight confusion of our emails meant that we arrived to a double room instead of twin beds. But this was changed right away and we had a lovely room, quiet with a sunny window view over rooftops. The only letdown was the breakfast, poor for the price and with uncomfortable (though doubtless expensive) chairs -- so go and eat at any of the other cafes nearby in preference. Sadly we may be too embarrassed to return to this excellent small hotel, because of our own mistake in thinking we had booked for an extra day. We returned from sightseeing to find that the staff had had to empty our room for another guest.. They obligingly rang another hotel for us to spend the extra night, and we hope they have forgiven us!
Odalys City Aix en Provence l'Atrium

Very comfortable hotel, everything worked ok in the room, tv, kettle, fridge, shower with good hot water. Everything was very clean and convenient. It also had a kitchenette with pans, pots, cutlery and crockery. Hotel is located right at the heart of the Village, walking distance to everything!. Special thanks to the reception staff that were super nice and Friendly. I stayed in Room 207, where there was zero noise from the street. Thanks!.🙂
Le Pigonnet - Esprit de France

This hotel is a tourist trap. The management is careless and the hotel is all together lacking TLC! There's is an ongoing construction on the site which was supposed to be far away from the room booked but in reality it was so close that the drilling was ongoing from morning on. Rooms poorly cleaned, bathtub and windows filthy. Check the photo of the hole in a door inside the room & the loose hook. Really ?? The garden, which is supposed to be the main attraction of the hotel was also not on top of its game. Minimal gardening done. One couldn't sit or lie down in the garden. All of the mats of the day beds and seat cushions of chairs were wet and partly dirty. Unbelievable. All together a never come back experience..
Château de Saint-Girons - Luxury Guest House in Provence

We left London at 11 am by Eurostar and was in The Chateau by 7.30 pm local time: earlier if we had acquired the mechanics of Uber sooner. What a beautiful place and part of France Aix is - even more so, I would imagine, in the height of summer. Despite autumn leaves falling it is a charming, relaxing, quiet chateau 15/20 mins from the station/town centre:(£12-16). Don’t be intimidated by the adjacent major road/motorway, once inside the gates peace & tranquility awaits! If you’re not in Provence ‘to tour’ I suggest registering with Uber: most efficient & cost effective. Our amicable and knowledgeable hosts, Clement & Sarah, have four spacious bedrooms on the first floor for guests. Breakfast was always delightful and plentiful – you never know what interesting guests you may meet....and of course the lugubrious boxer-dog, Jax: appearing unexpectedly for your company, one cannot but warm to him. The Chateau is steeped in family history that Clement is always willing to share with you; its extensive gardens invites exploration. Do spend an afternoon “chilling” in the square in the nearby village. An afternoon and an evening meal in Aix old town is also highly recommended. We were here for a short autumn break (5 nights which flew by) and thoroughly enjoyed it; so much so that we will revisit again in the summer months.
Odalys City Aix en Provence le Clos de la Chartreuse

I would not recommend this hotel. -Hard to find -Far from city center ($15 euro Uber each way) -no face cloths provided -only one small roll of toilet paper provided (and a half used one) -soap dispensers almost empty -no hair dryer -air conditioner didn’t work -did not allow early check in -stains on walls -broken glass in the cupboard -cobwebs -moldy shower curtain -shower handle was broken and didn’t stay on the holder -They charge $7 per clean (daily clean is not included!!) These are the reasons I would not stay again or recommend staying. This hotel needs improvement and care. The positives: -Staff are nice -Bed was comfortable -Free street parking out front or just $5 underground
