Old star hotel, large room, very hygienic, free coffee, close to the airport, there is a gas station and convenience store at the door, it is very convenient to rent a car.

Very nice room and bed perfect breakfast very fresh and very good service by charming people I recommend this hotel because quality/price ratio is very good

I am 70 years old and traveled to the area alone for a mini vacation. I was very pleased with my stay. I thought for this time of year, and things happening around the area, that the price was reasonable. First thing is they had security entrance to the hall where my room was, so I felt safe. The room was very clean and comfy. It had a microwave, mini frig, desk w/chair, and a side chair too, which a lot of places don't have and one person usually ends up sitting on the bed. Good WIFI. Free good parking. The people were so nice and helpful.

Doing the swing through Maine to visit schools and spent one night here (near Bowdoin). Location is near the highway, a bit outside of the town, which was fine. We had booked what was advertised as a one bedroom suite, but realistically it was more of a junior suite. The living room and bedroom only had a half wall between them, they could not be closed off separately. The living area was extremely tight also, if you had opened up the sleeper sofa I'm not sure you would have been able to walk by it. The room though was clean, the beds were comfortable and it overall had a ”nicer” feel to it. Breakfast was included, although it ended fairly early at 9:00. While there was plenty of food, it was all pre packaged, warmed up in the microwave options. I understand that with the pandemic many hotels eliminated their buffets and fresh cooked foods, but at this point it is starting to feel like they are simply appreciating that it is cheaper to just nuke a bunch of breakfast burritos vs having fresh options. Overall, the hotel was on the very good side, but I wouldn't say great. I appreciated that it was comfortable, convenient, and well appointed and potentially would stay there again if I was in the area.

My wife and I stayed for one night at the Hampton Inn Portland Downtown - Waterfront at the end of September 2024. Overall, this is a nice version of a Hampton Inn, offering a comfortable mid-range stay. The location is excellent, right near where the cruise ships dock and in the heart of the Waterfront district. The hotel and public areas were clean, and we had no issues with the prompt check-in process—no wait at all! Our room was clean and cozy, exactly what you would expect. The only small drawback was the lack of a TV guide or channel list, which made navigating the TV a bit of a hassle. Other than that, we had a pleasant experience.

We wound up at this hotel after having issues with a hotel down the road, but we are thankful to end up here! Front desk staff was friendly, the hotel was well lit and clean, complimentary coffee and tea in the lobby at all hours plus coffee and tea amenities in your room. We booked a king suite and it was very nice. The room was clean and well stocked, bed was comfy, and shower was great - had shampoo, conditioner, and body wash pumps in the shower in addition to standard complimentary soap bars.

Good value for the price paid. Staff provided rollaway bed, which helped to accomodate 3 persons in double room. Saved some $

My first trip to Maine was amazing. This hotel was beautiful. I understand it only opened less than a year ago. The lobby was lovely, free breakfast, and a nightly happy hour with drinks and food. Gym and laundry facilities, and water/ice dispensaries throughout the hotel. The room was beautiful and so well led out. It was obvious the designers of this space understood the importance of maximizing space. It was one of the few hotels that did not have an alarm clock, which is so redundant these days. Had a room with 2 beds, very soft and spacious. 3 night stands, kitchen area, spacious bathroom, large closet, desk space...really, it was a perfect stay. 10 minutes to downtown Portland!

The room was very hot, and it was difficult to control the temperature. What bothered me most, however, was that no housekeeping services are provided unless you are staying over three nights. The misleading tiny sign over the sink states that towels will not be changed in order to save energy. How much energy do they save by not making the bed? It does not tell you that the bed will not be made or the room vacuumed. All other hotels I have stayed in give you the option to decline housekeeping, but not La Quinta. They seem to think the guests are ignorant and will not realize that what they are saving is money for the company rather than energy, and it this dishonesty that will cause me to choose a different hotel next time.

I chose this place as a less expensive alternative to hotels in Portland. Also because motels are safer during COVID than hotels (more ventilation because the room opens to the outdoors). First, I want to say my room was clean and comfortable. It's nothing fancy, but you get what you pay for. Also, I had a last-minute change to my reservation and the manager was very accommodating. So, thank you for that. My one non-COVID sort-of complaint is that, while you get a fridge and microwave (nice features), there's no coffee maker in the room. Would be nice to have that instead of the microwave, maybe. My biggest issue is that there were no COVID protocols in place. I went into the office to check in and the office was SEALED. I mean no windows open, door shut. The manager who checked me in was not wearing a mask. Two other guests were in there. I was the only one wearing a mask. And check in still involves filling out a card, even if you book on Booking.com, so it takes several minutes. I was quite eager to get out of there. When I got to my room, I realized he had given me a queen room rather than the king I booked, but I didn't want to go back into the office to request a room change. Then it occurred to me that if the manager wasn't wearing a mask, housekeeping probably didn't either. I kept the door open and opened the windows to air out my room before removing my mask, following what the experts say. Please open your office windows. It was 72 degrees and gorgeous outside. No reason to have everything sealed up.

the facility was easy to locate, and staff are helpful, but since i checked in no cleaner ever come to clean my room for 2days! and i would recommend a deep cleaning of stairs and hallways which are dirty and some smell of Tabacco

The desk person was great, the room very clean and odor free. Surprised how quiet it was being so close to major highways. Much of the hotel runs away from the road toward a wooded area. It`s not a 5 star and shows normal wear and tear for it`s age, a little floor squeaking from above, etc. One would have to be a snob to find anything to complain about. Excellent value for the area and the times.

Had a nice stay at this hotel for two nights. Nice decor with prettiest bedspreads I’ve seen in a hotel and nice pictures. Unusual closet area, but clean and helpful staff. Comfortable bed, bath and satisfactory breakfast included. Is convenient to area sites we visited such Old Portland Harbor restaurant, Freeport outlets and the wonderful Maine Maritime Museum in Bath. Recommend for a stay in Brunswick!Can’t beat Wyndham rewards!!

We enjoyed our stay here a lot!! Very cute and well equipped rooms but they are on the smaller side. Very glad we were given 1st floor rooms as there are no elevators here. Breakfast, coffee, cookies, were very nice too. The bed was too hard though and the area isn’t close to the main area of Portland.

Honestly the best customer service I have received in a long time, and I’m from Canada… I was travelling out of BGR and needed somewhere to leave my car for 7 days. I first tried Bangor Suites Airport Hotel. Absolute 0/10. Was told “ahhhh…. No. You kinda left this until the last minute don’t you think.” Which I 100% did, but what was it to her? I then try Howard Johnson. Quick, easy and SUPER affordable! The kind man working was dealing with a difficult customer when I arrived and he handled the situation exceptionally well. I knew that moment I felt comfortable leaving my car and keys with him. He also offered me juice or coffee while I waited for my Uber, which was extremely kind. I ended up extending my trip 3 days and it was no problem to continue holding my car there. Also, my Uber to the airport and back was 9$ each way! I will definitely be back!

One pillow case that appeared to have not been changed before we arrived is the only negative thing to mention about The Bangor Inn. This hotel was like an oasis in the desert of our travels! A great breakfast, and everything was clean and comfortable, including the CARPET, which is a big deal. I was actually comfortable walking barefoot, which I usually don't do in a hotel. The staff were VERY friendly, helpful, smiling and just professional! Where did you find these people? Bangor Inn will always be our first choice to stay in this area of Maine. Should definitely be rated closer to a 4 star hotel, not the 2 that is listed.

I visited Bangor on a Stephen King nerdy trip and stopped for four nights at the Bangor Grande, and thoroughly enjoyed my stay. Having forgotten to check about the hotel shuttle bus service before landing at Bangor International, I made one quick phone call and the guy who mans the front desk in the evening (Michael?) was there within ten minutes. A big shout out to him by the way, could not have been more accommodating and a credit to the hotel. The rooms were clean, tidy and spacious and the location was only ten minutes drive to get in to Bangor - and two minutes if you are doing the Stephen King bus tour. If you’re a fan, don’t miss that, it was awesome. Four nights in Bangor was probably one too many, but I would recommend this hotel to anyone who is heading to town.
