Te Aroha Motel

We stayed as a family of 4 the rooms were emaculately clean, the beds were beautiful and very generous sizing, local milk in beauitful glass bottles connecting the local rural communiy was a great touch. All appliances were new and whisper quiet, which meant we all slept very well. Glenys gave us plenty of advice on where to take the children, local hot pools were a hit and the domain next door with playground gardens and basket ball courts for free family fun, the exploding geyser was great entertainment, very handy location to all the walking tracks up mt Te aroha, supermarket and shops easy walking distance from motel. The service was second to none. Rod and Glenys were amazing hosts who went above and beyond to make sure we all had the best stay. We had car trouble, and they opened their garage and time to help us get back on the road forever grateful.Truely, beautiful caring people. We will be back again soon and have told all our friends and family of our new favorite motel
Zeta Motel

We were pleasantly surprised. The room was spacious, tidy, and really well presented. The bathroom was really big, and the shower was awesome. We were a bit worried about traffic noise as it's on a busy road and next to a BP station, but once the windows were closed, it was so quiet. You honestly couldn't hear anything. You do have to go to another motel to book inn, which isn't a problem, but it should be mentioned when you make your booking. Will definitely stay here again.
Waitomo Lodge

Easy check-in, staff are easily contactable. If you are arriving after front desk hours, just give them a call. Easily instructions will be given. Room is spacious. TV has the lodge's netflix account, so you may want to check in early :)) Only concern is door lock is one-way, recommend owner to consider better locks since right outside of the room door is the car park.
Cottage Mews Motel

Convenient parking, good location, the back of the room leads directly to the lake. It only takes 5 or 6 minutes to drive to the city center for sightseeing and dining. The room facilities and kitchen equipment are very complete. It is spring, and the flowers in the courtyard are in full bloom. It is worth recommending to friends. The wifi signal is not good.
Coromandel Court Motel

Great location, excellent pitstop for trips along Coromandel. Ample parking spots for those who are driving or on road trips. Only downside was the WiFi, as it was rather unstable.

This motel has been around for quite a number of years and has begun to show its age. However, a new owner has recently taken over and it looks like things will be on the up in the not too distant future. The main positive I have to mention is that the bed and pillows were very comfortable. That counts for a lot in my book. The bathroom was quite small and the shower box felt cramped. Additionally the ergonomics were a bit of a problem. The ”wardrobe” for your clothes was immediately adjacent to the cooking area and you had to manipulate the curtains carefully to keep out the brightness of the security lighting immediately outside the windows. There is a beautifully maintained swimming pool available for customers. However, the area surrounding the pool was a let down. The grass was in urgent need of mowing and edges needed trimming. Additionally the front garden and grassed area was poorly maintained and does not create a good first impression when driving in. A security camera has been installed so you can leave your car parked safely knowing that all will be well. We had a couple of otherwise comfortable nights here but I look forward to seeing how the programme of improvements will work out.
Turangi Leisure Lodge

Arrived very late, got the key from the key box. The house looks new, but the interior is average, with plenty of parking. There is a big bed downstairs and two small beds upstairs. The space is quite large, but there is no wardrobe, and the shower facilities are a bit old.
Horse and Jockey Inn

Because I want to participate in the Hobbiton event the next morning, the hotel is set at Matamata, and there is a bar downstairs. So the resonance of the bar at night will affect sleep. Some rooms in this room do not have a bathroom, so when booking Please consult in advance. Even the basin with bathroom is very small. There is no refrigerator in the room. The common kitchen is very small. There is only a refrigerator, a toaster, a kettle and a microwave, so you can only simply turn the food and not cook it yourself.

Opal Hot Springs & Holiday Park

There is a motel half an hour away from Hobbit. The bungalows built on the side of the mountain were not well ventilated, the outside of the room was very cool, and the room was stuffy and hot, and only one fan was provided for the two rooms. The room sheets are fairly clean. The only pool water that can be advertised does not know how long it has not been changed. Very strong smell of disinfectant water!
