Gala Oaxaca

This is a charming family-run hotel in Oaxaca. The place is spotless, with a great rooftop for breakfast—delicious, cheap, and with free coffee in the morning! The staff were super friendly and always smiling. I know photos doesn’t look great but it’s much, much nicer in real! The only minor issue is the main door at night—it’s locked, so you’ll need to knock and might wait a bit if the staff are asleep. Other than that, it’s clean, affordable, and full of character. Highly recommend!
Casa Origen Huatulco

The unit was very clean and the layout creates three different environments (sleeping area, tv-entertainment area, and the breakfast or working area). I personally took advantage of all three areas during my trip. The devices, WiFi, safety, and security are upgraded. The lady in charge, Karen, was super helpful and friendly. She helped me to connect with a taxi driver that provided also an excellent service.
Hotel Mayis

The Mayis, while in an old traditional building in central Oaxaca, is in pristine condition and may well have been refurbished since its last review in 2017. Although my room had a view of the street, it wasn't too noisy. A bit on the expensive side, showing that Oaxaca is very much back on the tourist map---not that I would begrudge this, with hospitality having suffered so much during the pandemic. And my room was a bit on the small side; I could have done with a chair for the table instead of having to sit on the bed. Still, not a bad hotel and I couldn't fault it for its immaculate condition.
Capital O El Nito Posada

Good sized room. Spotlessly clean and comfortable. Staff very friendly and helpful. Comfortable bed and good sized shower room with hot water. Communal area very pleasant and a shady place to chill out in the afternoon. The hotels location is almost perfect, being only minutes walk from the market and cathedral square.

Hotel Camba

The room I was given was not the one I had booked. The sheets were worn out, with holes and stains; you could feel the springs of the bed and I got bitten by bed bugs! (these same bugs also made holes in my wooden alejibres!) It was abnormally hot in the room and I had to negotiate at midnight for more than 40 minutes to get a simple fan. (I live in Vietnam, so I am used to the heat) I slept only a few hours with the window open from which everyone going to their room could see me in my bed. A bar on the same street had extremely loud music, and this well after the 10pm announced by the receptionist. The night receptionist and the manager of the establishment openly made fun of me with a permanent smirk (maybe because of my accent? and because I was a single woman?) and explained to me that at this price, it was all I could have, that I was the only dissatisfied customer and remained inflexible in changing my room or offering me help. I was openly told that I was an ”annoying” customer and that if I was not happy, I could leave immediately (without a refund). I had to contact Booking customer service who was very helpful to me in finally having access to another room on the ground floor and with less basic comfort. (the manager did not answer their calls even though he was in front of me, ... proving his great courage and legitimacy of what he was doing) The rooms are not worth the price, the bedbugs made my life hell and above all the manager behaved very badly with me - being rude and mocking. I lived 2 years in Mexico, this type of behavior is very far from that of the vast majority of hoteliers. This establishment is to be avoided ... and this hotel does not deserve your money. I deeply regret having booked here and ruined my nights. The room counts with zero comfort, has PULGAS, sleeves and shoulders ... Tremendous heat, zero privacy. And if you talk to the manager, you are making fun of you. It was a very unfortunate experience. This hotel is not worth the price, because it favors a place where you can treat your client well and it doesn't cost you anything that has heat. I felt very bad and without the help of Booking, I lost my dinner because it was in the form that I was wearing but I felt safe for nothing. Please don't go there - the room have bed bugs... the room is so hot and they don't offer fan. If you ask help at the reception, they blaim you and will laugh... They have been very rude and without the Booking client service support, I would leave loosing my money because I was feeling so bad and unsafe in this place.
Viajero Puerto Escondido Hostel

Brand new, very nice. Great pool, bar, people, spacious rooms. The crowd is a bit younger, I enjoy their energy and the folks here kept things moving with games and activities nearly every night. The hostel is multiple stories, the third is a kitchen and lounge area. You can see the beach from here. The rooms have very comfy beds and modern showers (think hot water with good pressure).

There was no front desk, but it was very good to answer questions at any time on WhatsApp. There is a small shop like a convenience store next door, which is very convenient.
