Daikokuya Ryokan

The staff at the inn were warm and moderate, and I was very comfortable. While there were many non-smoking rooms, the companion who was a smoker was very happy. In addition, the correspondence of the odor remaining in the room is also firm, and I think it can be comfortable. It's a hot spring, but you can get the power of the source. It is a hot spring of great satisfaction! I want to enter again ♪

As a ryokan I believe is run by a family, you would expect they will by offering good service rather than lots of facilities. This is exactly the case. I want to commend the owner, Mr. Tsuchiya, because without his help, my excursion to Lake Toyoni would not be as smooth. After discussing my concerns in the risk of missing the bus on the way back, he agreed to drive me to Lake Toyoni early in the morning, so I would have plenty of time to spend at Lake Toyoni, and minimized the chance I would miss the only scheduled bus back. Indeed, I did get to the bus stop ahead of time and caught the bus. I bought some snacks from a local bakery for his help. Not sure if he liked it or not, but hopefully yes. In terms of facilities, I was surprised to find there is an onsen there. To be honest, it's more like a hot bath, but that is still nice to have. Also, you will have to drag your luggage to 2nd floor, as obviously, there won't be an elevator. The only complaint I would have is the wifi, which is dodgy at best. Just continue to use your own data if you want to avoid frustrations. Cleanliness is ok, given only three people run the whole place, including cleaning and cooking. Bathrooms are shared, and I have no problem with the cleanliness. The place is old, so don't expect too much. In summary, their service is top-notch; everything else is what you would expect of a ryokan.

MAKE SURE YOU RECEIVE THE CODE TO THE LIFT BEFORE YOU ARRIVE. I stayed in a capsule in the dormitory on the 3rd floor of the hotel, where self check-in facilities are located. I believe there are family units or private rooms on other floors of the hotel. + Very good location. Less than 5 minutes walk from nearest subway. Subway journey about 5 minutes from central Odori Station. + Very comfortable beds and good quality linen and pillows. I slept very well during my two nights there. + Very good and clean communal facilities - high quality furniture, spacious bathrooms (a lot better than the price suggests). + Self check-in was easy (apart from the lift, see below). - I booked my accommodation through Trip.com. That meant I did not receive an email from the hotel with the code to activate the lift (or even know that I needed a code!). Thankfully, a lady put in the code for me to take me to the 3rd floor so I could check in, otherwise I would have been stuck with no access to the hotel. MAKE SURE YOU RECEIVE THE CODE TO THE LIFT BEFORE YOU ARRIVE. - There are no cooking utensils, plates, cups, cutlery or fridge in the kitchen on the 3rd floor where the dormitories are located. I would happily stay here again for the money, now I know the downsides I have written above so that I can plan accordingly.

With regards to this accommodation, I think people will either love it or hate it when it comes to the check-in stage. If you have a smartphone, you can easily check in by scanning the QR code on the tablet at the entrance, but for someone like me who hates relying solely on smartphones and doesn't like to own one, having to communicate with the staff via Zoom on a separate screen was extremely troublesome and personally infuriating to me. Why is the world gradually becoming a place where you can't do anything without a smartphone? I don't understand this, so I wouldn't consider staying at this type of accommodation again. However, the hotel's specifications were clean and there didn't seem to be any particular problems, so I think it would be recommended for smartphone users. It's also conveniently located just a short walk from Sapporo Station and the price is reasonable.

I spent my first time here in Sapporo. Even I mistakenly went to Plat Hostel Ichiba but this place is much better for walking. Plat Hostel Sky is on the road that leads straight to Airport Bus and Sapporo train station. The room has a free towel, a flashlight,a line for hanging clothes inside the bed and shared in the room ,3 hangers, one small safe storage to contain your purse, passport,or charger, two electric sockets, and 2 USB A ports. I am 185 cm tall. The bed is big and private enough for me. There is not a locker for your luggage so you need to place them somewhere properly in the room. The kitchen is next to the lobby which is good to keep your meal cool or even cooking. They will provide you free tea and coffee. The staff are so friendly and ready to help you anytime. If you don't find them at the reception you can call them by hostel phone. The shower rooms are so compact. There is a shower, a faucet, a hairdryer ,and free body soap, shampoo and conditioner. There are toilets for each gender on each floor except the 3rd floor which is for laundry. Both 2 washing machines and dryers work nicely!!! Everything is clean!!! If you keep everything clean as well.

It is a B&B run by ********* and speaks Chinese. Dinner and breakfast are charged separately. Dinner is 4,500 yen and breakfast is 1,500 yen. I went there once in autumn and winter, and the food has not changed. If you are staying consecutively or going there for the second time, it is recommended to inform the owner in advance, and they will update some dishes for you. The room is a bit old and the public bathroom on the first floor is not open. If you have a car at night, it’s very convenient to go to Shinei-no-oka to watch the stars!

The location is in a residential area, there is a subway station nearby, but it takes about 8 minutes to walk. The traffic is not as convenient as other hotels, but the boss is super good, very enthusiastic to introduce various accommodation facilities, and will remind foreign passengers to buy local cheap transportation coupons!

I recently stayed at this hostel and the hostel is clean and comfortable, which made for a pleasant stay. The rooms are well-maintained, and the beds are cozy. However, the toilet bidet wasn’t working, which was quite inconvenient. Additionally, the shower room is located on the first floor, the same floor as the bar. This setup was not ideal as it required going downstairs to shower. One of the biggest issues was the noise from the bar on the first floor. The bar stays open until midnight, and the loud music and chatter made it difficult to relax and get a good night’s sleep.
Minn Chitose

Checking in requires patience as there will be no actual staff to help you. You need to communicate over a tablet and combine with your mobile phone to fill in the info needed. But once you get through the complicated process, the room is well worth the price. It is located well near the Chitose airport and car rental companies. You get three beds and a kitchen to do small cooking if needed.
Sho Inn Minimal Hotel

I booked this for my trip to Otaru. It's quite a walk up a hill from Otaru Station and Minami Otaru Station, but it's about a 20-minute walk from Tenguyama, so it was a good location for me who wanted to see the night view. There were many toilets and showers compared to the number of rooms, and it was generally clean and nice. I thought it was great that there was a microwave and refrigerator, and that the washing machine and dryer were free of charge. However, there are no amenities such as razors or toothbrushes, so you need to prepare them. There are supermarkets and convenience stores nearby, so it's a good idea to do your shopping in advance. Although it was at the last minute, they arranged for me to be picked up and dropped me off, which was very helpful.
