Travelers Reviews of Cairo Governorate Hotels

Holy Sheet Hostel
8.1/540 Reviews
This hostel has a good location and I would say that it is pretty walkable in the early morning and very late at night but the walking infrastructure is not the best in Cairo. Mid day the traffic makes it very tricky to walk around even though there are many good restaurants and attractions nearby. Finding it is a little tricky but it is down an alley that doesn't allow cards and it is located on floor 2 of an older building. There is an elevator but all doors and gates need to be closed in order for it to work and we found guests at the hostel weren't good at closing after themselves. The staff are very kind and welcoming but we got a bit hung up on the payment. We booked on Trip with the ”Pay at the Hotel” option for 3100 Egyptian pounds for three nights in a private room but they were asking for 3600 when we were checking in. After a little back and forth they let us check in and gave us the keys so we could rest and wait for the manager's answer. The manager said no to our booked rate, we were told we booked on ******* and we now had to pay 3900 Egyptian pounds. I'm at a loss of words for this discrepancy between Trip and the hostel but there weren't better deals in the area we wanted to stay and we very reluctantly paid. The room was just a place to sleep with a box to the side where our shower and toilet were. The box had no ceiling or ventilation so there were smells throughout the room from the drains. The beds were comfy but were not completely clean when we arrived - there was hairs in the bed sheets. The room cleanliness overall could have been better. The area is quiet at night and we got a good night's rest to spend our days exploring Cairo. The breakfast was ok but there wasn't much room to eat in the common areas during our stay so we asked for breakfast in our room during our stay. We had a simple breakfast with a fried egg, cucumbers, tomatoes, cheese, banana, tea/coffee and Arabic bread. It is enough to get you through until lunch and is served starting at 8 pm. There is a convenience store close by that offers fairly priced snacks and drinks which you might want to seek out because they do not provide water at this hostel. We hope this property improves because it seems like it used to be really good and the location is good as well.
Paradise Boutique Hotel

Next to the Egyptian Museum The ”No. 9 Chicken Roll” downstairs is delicious, with red Arabic on the door Night cruise on the Nile, Kings cruise, belly dancers are great Khalili Market, go at night. The coffee shops near the check-in point are all very good, there are dozens or hundreds of historical shops. Fridays and Saturdays are especially lively! The coffee shop is a paradise for locals, give enough tips to make you feel full, and keep tipping to make you happy Don't go to those coffee shops at the door, they are so expensive that they rip off tourists Markaz home store, everything is worth buying Zamalek Art Island, university rich area, plenty of jewelry stores and art galleries
Cairo Paradise Hotel

We stayed in a renovated room so bathroom was newly done and the walls were freshly painted. Nice light options to relax with softer light. Curtain and carpet were also new and inviting. Bedding was clean. Bathroom was clean. We enjoyed our stay. It seems that rooms are being updated since other reviews were written. Many reviews seem harsh considering the price you pay. It's a higher end budget stay after all. We got soap, toilet paper and towel. You can't expect everything for a budget price. Reception area was nicely decorated for Ramadan and staff were friendly. Location is great and a fun part of Cairo to explore. Nice night markets! Typical city noises but not too loud to sleep considering its the centre of the city. Balcony sliding doors are new and close but there is no view to mention. Other guests we saw seemed content as they socialised in public area. I prepaid with ********* to avoid payment issues. Public areas do need some more renovation and some repairs but again, it did not reduce the comfort of my stay and it was acceptable being dusted and clean. It's good for Cairo. We enjoyed using the quaint art nouveau gilded style lift! A good experience overall.
Lucky Hostel
8.1/512 Reviews
When we arrived, it was a little difficult to find the building, because there was no sign of Lucky Hostel in the lobby. However a very persistent man outside, insisted that the building with sign “El otel”, is the correct building. We trust him and we entered. Another problem, it looked like to use the elevator to 4th floor, we must have access card. We wait for about 5 minutes and fortunately there was a man came down, and we asked his help to tap on the elevator using his card. Other than that, my husband & I were happy to stay in this hostel. Our room was so big and with sofa too!! Staff were very kind and helpful. Breakfast was good. Hot shower was very pleasant in cold morning. And we were very happy that the staff allow us to put our luggage while we were away to Luxor. We stay for total of 4 nights and we were allowed again to put our luggage while we went shopping, because our flight was in the middle of the night.
Montana Hotel Cairo
7.7/522 Reviews
I had an acceptable stay at the Montana Hotel in Cairo. The overall experience was average, especially considering the price point. The service was friendly and helpful—staff were polite and responsive, always willing to assist with any requests. The facilities were basic need to keep an eye on cleaning and functionality of WiFi. The room was tidy and had the essentials, though not particularly luxurious. It’s a good choice for travelers looking for a simple place to stay in a convenient location. As for the food, it was average—breakfast with a small variety of local and continental options. It’s probably not the hotel’s highlight, but it does the job if you’re not expecting gourmet meals. Overall, it’s a budget-friendly option in Cairo with decent service. Great for short stays or if you plan to spend most of your time exploring the city.

Welcome Arabesque Hostel

The hotel is quite close to the Egyptian museum, The facility is okay - The place is quite old but clean. The hotel staff here are very nice especially Mr Anas he was quite energetic and really looking forward to service + friendly I didn't expect that he was invites me to the lunch together with them ** note** for someone who cannot sleep with the noise - the hotel is quite close to the Egyptian Street which is always honking the horn. Solution ** ust bring an earplug ( The one that you would receive on in airplane ) and everything's gonna be fine In conclusion this hotel is reasonably priced for this quality. if you don't expect for something luxury but friendly , This hotel could be your choice
Dahab Hostel

Room is in a good location close to Tahrir Square and Egyptian Museum. You will need to carry your luggage up the stairs for one floor after taking the lift (goes up to the sixth floor) which is something to note if you have heavy luggage. Room is basic but comfortable enough, would like to suggest putting more hooks in the toilet and more electrical outlets.

Thank you so much for your hard working and I feel so comfortable and kind. I love the decoration of room,it looks like I am living in a palace. One night I wanted to go for music comedy and needed to print the ticket, the staff helped without any hesitation. If you visit Vienna, here is a good place for stay which has good location and service!
New Palace Hotel

The hotel itself is basic. The room and other areas need a little work, but for the price that you pay, it’s worth it. And anyway, you just sleep there. What impressed me was the staff. I don’t have words how amazing the staff there is. I arrived with a toothache and they helped me schedule an appointment and I even got a discount. Every tour I wanted to do , they arranged it for me. The prices were affordable. Thanks to the staff, my before #1 ranked trip just got dethroned by this one. Very thankful to Kimo, Dr. Ahmed and Carlos for taking amazing care of me. Thank you for everything.
