"Continuation of a very good stay. The room I was in suddenly had construction noise from upstairs that awoke me early in the morning, and then this severe disturbance continued. It was found that there was significant renovation work underway for the floor above. However, after some initial reluctance from reception to properly address this noise problem, whidh no hotel guest should experience, they moved me to an equivalent standard room on another floor, which is very quiet. That’s a relief because everything else is excellent - room facilities, cleanliness, and location."

"The location is excellent, right in the heart of the old town. It's close to the main street and all the attractions. The place is super clean, the bedding is brand new, and all the facilities are perfect – not a single issue. I highly recommend staying here; I absolutely love the style. You should definitely check it out!"

"The location is very good, the north gate is a minute or two away, and it is convenient to go to Pingyao Bus Station in the morning, not far from the north gate. The room was spacious and comfortable, the sanitation was very good, and the night was quiet. In the morning, there was a place to eat breakfast at the entrance of the alley, and I was generally satisfied."

"Location is ok, near taiyuan south train station, we took trishaw RMB10 frm train station. Problem is this hotel has a combine lobby with others hotel, make it hard to find. Can use gps to reach there & ask the local. Surrounding is ok, can access to food store. Price is cheap, worth the money as we just stay a night & join tour the next day. Recomended for bugdet traveler, especially travel with train"

"I arrived in Datong on a whim and booked this hostel last minute. I stayed in the 12-bed dorm which is a large dorm with a small table and chairs, lockers, a sink to brush your teeth/wash your face and a private bathroom (with a hot water shower and toilet). The beds were comfy and have curtains and the airconditioning is strong. WiFi works well too. The dorm and the bathroom are cleaned every day. The hostel provides face towels, earplugs, toothbrushes and toilet paper. There is a comfortable lounge area just outside of the dorms. It is really a great hostel, but there is one negative aspect, the private bathroom: the glass is semi-see through (which isn’t too bad since there are just women in the room), but it lets through all the noise and light. So when somebody goes to the toilet and turns on the light the whole room lights up which even with the curtains closed will disturb your sleep. Also, the toilet flush is very loud so every time somebody flushes the toilet it can be heard through the entire room which again disturbs sleep. If you’re a deep sleeper or don’t mind wearing ear plugs then I can definitely recommend the hostel!"

"The check-in staffs are helpful and friendly especially one that assisted and co-ordinated with my pant which I had accidentally left at the previous hotel. Plus another staff assisted me with the arrival. Finally, I received my pants. I was delighted. Hotel room is clean & quiet. Location wise was just next to a metro station. Next to the hotel a small restaurant easy for food. Overall, a pleasant stay. In"

"The hotel is new (the TV screen protector hadn't even been removed yet) and the closets weren't fully set up. If you're arriving by car, you access the hotel via the second-level underground parking lot. Communication with the staff on Trip.com before arrival was excellent when I needed information. The rooms we chose were in the basement, but the hallway was lit by natural light through skylights. The owners don't speak English, but we managed to communicate using a translation app. They were very responsive and resolved any issues, even at midnight. The showers are a bit cramped; either the shower cabin isn't perfectly square, or in the other room, the space between the shower cabin and the sink is restricted. Housekeeping was done daily, and water bottles were provided. However, the toilet paper was supplied in very small quantities. If you ask at reception, they'll give you more, but it's always a hassle to have to go and ask when a normal amount could be provided initially. We only had one roll, which didn't seem full, regardless of whether you had a room for two or three people. The electrical outlets don't accommodate French plugs, similar to what you find in Shanghai and Beijing. There's no laundry service available. The location is good, in a new district that's still under construction. The alley leading to it at night is lovely, with the illuminated storefronts of the various houses. The hotel can arrange a paid taxi service between the station and the hotel for guests staying in the basement rooms. The rooms are well-equipped; only a few finishing touches, like bathroom caulking, are still needed."

"Our high-speed train arrived late and departed early, so staying here was incredibly convenient. We could see the hotel sign right from the high-speed rail station. You just follow the red pavement, cross the main road, and then turn right onto the hotel's street. When we checked in, there was a large group of retirees demanding free breakfast from the front desk, threatening to leave bad reviews if they didn't get it. We went out to grab some late-night food and they were still arguing, even making the young lady at the front desk cry. The next day, we walked past the front desk again and encountered two or more of them still yelling at passing staff. It was truly unbelievable; you shouldn't expect a 400-yuan experience from a 200-yuan hotel product. Our one-day trip to Linfen was great though – Hukou Waterfall, Lesser Western Heaven, and Guang Sheng Temple. It was a last-minute plan, and we were pleasantly surprised. Highly recommend it to everyone!"

"The Platino Hotel Taiyuan Railway Station West Square branch became my perfect sanctuary during my Shanxi trip. My first night in Taiyuan was at a different chain hotel. While I had chosen the room knowing its window situation, it turned out to be tiny, and the air conditioning blew directly on me. Adjusting the vents didn't make a difference, so I ended up turning it off and enduring a hot, restless night. By pure chance, I booked the Platino for my second night, and it was absolutely perfect: a spacious room, a spotless environment, the train station just a stone's throw away, and the entire hotel was wonderfully quiet. I finally got a fantastic night's sleep. What truly made the difference were the owners – an incredibly friendly couple who are meticulously attentive and genuinely thoughtful. They made such a lasting impression that even during the rest of my trip outside Taiyuan, I kept thinking about the hotel, knowing I'd stay there whenever I returned. The owner would proactively reach out, asking 'What time are you coming back today?' I, in turn, never hesitated to directly request a specific room, and as long as it didn't inconvenience other guests, they would graciously accommodate every single request. All in all, it was a fantastic experience. I'll definitely be staying at Platino again on my next visit to Taiyuan."
