First time in Shanghai, and this hostel is conveniently located in a building with easy elevator access. I stayed in a four-person dorm. The room was a bit small, but the natural light was decent, and having an en-suite bathroom was a huge plus. My main gripe is getting into the top bunk; the ladder design makes it quite difficult to climb, you really need to brace yourself to get up there. The front desk service was good. What I really loved was meeting people from all over China and even other countries, and the hostel hosted various activities. It really fit my impression of Shanghai as a diverse and inclusive city.

1. It's very close to Nanjing Road, only a 5-minute walk.
2. For the area around Nanjing Road, the price is quite affordable, even though it's an older hotel.
3. Although the hotel doesn't offer breakfast, there are plenty of options right outside, like congee, steamed buns, fried dough sticks, soy milk, and more.

I highly recommend this hotel! The overall environment is clean and hygienic, and the facilities are complete, making for a very comfortable stay. The front desk staff has an excellent service attitude – warm and professional. They patiently addressed all our needs and were genuinely friendly, which made us feel incredibly welcome. They even proactively pointed out important details, which shows great attention to detail and truly made us feel at home. Five stars for sure! A major highlight is the complimentary shuttle service to and from Pudong Airport for both check-in and check-out. Once you arrive at the Pudong Airport departure level, just call the hotel, and the front desk will tell you the pick-up time and location. It runs hourly on the dot, which is very convenient. The ride is quick too, making this a perfect spot for anyone catching a flight!

Really enjoyed my stay here. The room was comfortable and spotless, and the staff were professional and welcoming. The hotel is in a convenient area with plenty of food options nearby. Great value for the price and a good choice for travelers visiting the city.

The location is super convenient, really close to Dashiijie Metro Station. Plus, there's great food and shopping nearby.
Exit 5 leads directly to 'Dahuchun' if you're craving some shengjianbao (pan-fried buns).
Exit 6 will take you to 'Fuhe Noodle Restaurant' for some delicious banmian (tossed noodles).
And a little tip: you can grab earplugs from the lobby if you need them!

I really picked the right hostel for my trip to Shanghai this time! It's located right next to Joy City Jing'an and very close to Jing'an Temple, which makes getting around and shopping super convenient. The place is spotlessly clean, and the common lounge area is huge, perfect for relaxing or having a chat. There's even a rooftop terrace upstairs, which is lovely for a breath of fresh air in the evening. The overall atmosphere is quiet yet cozy, and it offers great value for money. It's really suitable whether you're traveling solo or just need a short-term stay. 😊

I am grateful for Xiao Duan and Xiaolin for the help they’ve provided me!!
Great value hostel in a top location — a few honest tips for fellow travellers
The location is absolutely spot-on — right in the heart of things, couldn't ask for better. The staff were brilliant: genuinely helpful and welcoming. They gave me a disposable towel and tissues free of charge, which normally costs ¥3 — a small gesture, but a kind one that made a difference.
A few honest notes if you're coming from somewhere like Japan (as I was): manage your expectations on cleanliness. Japanese hostels spoil you — spotless rooms, no smells, the lot. China is different, and this place is no exception. The toilet had a bit of an odour, and the rooms could do with more regular ventilation. It's not a dealbreaker, but worth knowing.
On the plus side: free drinking water to fill your bottle, paid laundry on-site, and that unbeatable central location. The rooms themselves are decent enough nothing flash, but perfectly fine for the price.
Finding the place: Google Maps is patchy in China at best. I'd strongly recommend downloading Baidu Maps or Amap (高德地图) before you arrive — they're far more reliable here. If you do use Google Maps, cross-reference the address with the Chinese name 登巴客栈 (Dengba Hostel) to avoid ending up on the wrong side of town.
Overall, a solid 4-star stay — perhaps I'm slightly biased coming straight from Japan, but for the price and location, it's a sound choice.

This hotel boasts an excellent location right on Huaihai Middle Road, above where MUJI used to be. It's right in the middle of a shopping district, close to the subway, making it super convenient for exploring Julu Road, Fuxing Road, and Changle Road. The beds in the room were clean and tidy, and the soundproofing was good, so I slept comfortably. Check-in at the front desk was quick and efficient. For the Huangpu area, it offers outstanding value for money. I was very satisfied with my stay for my business trip and will definitely choose this hotel again next time I'm in Shanghai.

The location is great, convenient for getting anywhere, and the hostel environment and surroundings are also lovely. The cleaning lady was prompt with tidying, and the bedding was very comfortable. The only downsides were that the sink was shared by both genders, and the restroom only had a toilet, no squat toilet. Also, if the lobby was crowded, there might not be a place to sit. Other than that, everything was fine, and there are lots of good places to eat nearby. Overall, it's pretty good~

We had a smooth stay in this accommodation even though we are non Mandarin speaker tourists. Location is nice and we got everything we need. There was one instance where we got locked inside the room because the lock was faulty (which was kinda scary because there’s no other exit), but we got help within an hour.

GGuest UserApologies for the messy bed in the picture, it was a quick shot as I was leaving. 🙏
This room is small but incredibly well-equipped! The kitchen has everything you need to cook your own meals, and the fridge actually works! That was a lifesaver for my cold drinks, haha. It's an older building so you'll hear some sounds, but personally, I found it acceptable. The attention to detail is amazing – hangers, a fridge, a microwave, spices, knives – it's the most complete place I've ever stayed in. My only wish is that the pillows were a bit firmer; they were a little too soft for my neck, but I'm sure those who prefer soft pillows would be fine. The host is very responsible, thorough, and attentive. Absolutely fantastic!

KKaiselinxiaojieI chose this hotel because I needed one near the visa interview location. The front desk staff proactively informed me that the room was small and asked if I was okay with it, which was very thoughtful. Even though the room was tiny, it had everything I needed. They even thoughtfully provided noise-canceling earplugs (the overall soundproofing was decent, but someone next door was playing loud music all night...). Although there's no dining in the room, there are a few tables outside with snacks and lemon water, which I thought was a nice touch.
I personally found the bed and pillows quite comfortable. I would definitely book here again if I have similar needs in the future.

GGuest UserThe place is quite nice and homey. There’s a lot of cookwares and kitchen utensils, also smart projector for entertainment. The place is easy to find, even though we need to walk a quiet distance from the nearest station. Still reachable though. There’s also many stores, cafes, and restaurants nearby. The hosts are very helpful and professional. I would recommend to stay here bcs it offers excellent value for money…

GGuest UserThis guesthouse absolutely deserves a full five-star rating! The location is truly unbeatable, right next to Plaza 66, and just a few minutes' walk from Lai Lai Xiaolong Bao and the LV Ferris wheel. It's incredibly convenient for shopping, dining, and exploring.
The host was incredibly thoughtful; they knew we arrived early and proactively offered an early check-in. They were genuinely concerned about our experience throughout our stay and responded instantly to any questions we had, making us feel completely at ease, like friends. The room was clean, tidy, and well-equipped. The old house vibe, offering peace and quiet amidst the city bustle, was also very comfortable. I'll definitely choose this place again on my next trip to Shanghai!

AAnonymous UserThe hygiene was great, and the front desk staff and cleaning ladies were very friendly. However, there's only one elevator, which was quite inconvenient and led to very long waits. In the rooms, especially for the top bunk, the ladder is installed very close to the wooden board, making it difficult to climb up and down. The rooms aren't separated by gender, so you might encounter people of the opposite sex in the hallway after showering. If that bothers you, you might want to look elsewhere. Although it's an enclosed room, it doesn't feel stuffy if you turn on the fan to a high setting. The location is excellent, very close to the subway station, making travel quite convenient. Overall, it's a very, very good place 👍🏻

GGuest UserEverything was excellent, starting with the perfect location and the short walking distance to the metro. There were great restaurants with delicious food nearby, and an UNIQLO store was close by as well, which was a big plus since we are fans of this brand. On top of that, the hosts were extremely supportive and helpful throughout our stay. Highly recommended!
XXan DawsonLocation of this hotel seems to be pretty convenient. Though I would like to mention a few about reaching the hotel. If you’re traveling by metro be sure to take Exit 5. Don’t be misguided by taking Exit 10 as suggested by maps.
About the hotel, it’s an average hotel with basic facilities. Thought your preferences can be modified if you communicate with the receptionists. A little hiccups here and there. Apart from that it’s quiet affordable for the price
GGuest UserI was at Changzheng Hospital with my father for a medical appointment, and initially stayed at a nearby hotel. The price was similar, but the quality was miles apart from this one – this hotel is fantastic! First off, the lady at the front desk was so helpful. I asked her for a band-aid, and she even gave me disinfectant and iodine swabs – she's more caring than my own husband! 😂 The room was also very new and well-equipped. The shower was spacious, and there was even a fridge, which was perfect for storing my insulin. I'll definitely be staying here again!
NNinidianxiaThe hotel's location is excellent, making it convenient for getting around. However, precisely because of its prime location, the room rates are quite high, and the rooms themselves are rather small. Breakfast is delivered to the room and includes steamed buns, eggs, and soy milk, which I personally found quite good. The room was also relatively quiet. If you prioritize convenience and don't mind smaller room sizes or more basic facilities, this place is a good choice.
WW_H_The hotel was great! My room had a window, and they even gave me a complimentary late checkout and free luggage storage. It's super convenient, only 300 meters from the US Visa office. While standard checkout is at 12:00, the front desk was really flexible. Plus, we got a 15% discount at Haidilao Hotpot!
