Lemon Hotel

Huaihai Road Area/Xintiandi Area
Pro: Very clean! I was fearing the shared bathrooms, but they are being kept tidy and clean. Men's bathrooms were among the cleanest I've seen in CN. Staff is very friendly. Con: Pretty noisy! Walls and doors are like cardboard. Guests were not very considerate in terms of noise. Doors are impossible to close quietly. But most noisy was the staff that was cleaning at 2am. Sounded like they were throwing buckets around. And my room was the furthest from the bathroom (which is where is suppose they were working)... They only provide disposable towels. Imagine those tons of waste this produces every week!

Zhoupu Kangqiao
The room is very clean. They help to clean it every day. The most important thing is that it is close to the subway station. It is convenient to go everywhere. There is also a Domino's Pizza next to it. The price is very affordable. It is really good. Service: The service is also very good and the breakfast is delicious

I don’t know why, but there was no hook in the shower. Where was I supposed to put my clothes and other belongings? All the toilets were covered in used toilet paper - seriously, ***? There was no space at all to store my stuff or clothes in the room (only small locker). I ended up canceling my booking after just one night.

I recently stayed at Hi Inn in Shanghai and had a pleasant experience overall. Pros: Great Location: The hotel is conveniently located, making it easy to explore the city. Close to public transport and major attractions. Friendly Staff: The team was welcoming and helpful throughout my stay, adding a personal touch to the experience. Cons: Room Size: The rooms were quite small, which might not be ideal if you’re looking for a lot of space, but they were clean and functional. Overall, it’s a solid choice if you’re looking for an affordable place with a good location and friendly service. Great for a short stay! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Great location with many restaurants nearby. The hotel upgraded my room from a Superior Queen Room to a King Room with a bathtub. Use Exit 2, as it has an elevator. Exit 5 is directly opposite the hotel but only has stairs. I will definitely stay here again when I return to Shanghai.
Shanghai Bund Yiwan Hotel
3.9/5266 Reviews
People's Square Area
Great hotel with spacious rooms in a very convenient location near the main shopping area and The Bund. Rooms have lots of facilities and comfortable beds, staff are helpful. The area can be a bit noisy. You might find it difficult to work out where to go to get in as the entrance isn’t signed - Apple Maps is correct, go into an entry and there will be a big bow in the stairwell - go to the third floor and turn right for the reception.
Weiliu Youth Hostel (Shanghai People's Square Jing'an Joy City Branch)

Train Station Area
Traveling alone in Shanghai, the environment of the female quad room is quite good. The room is equipped with a clothes hanger, which is also very convenient. There is a paid washing machine and a public washbasin. There is a free water dispenser next to the washbasin to adjust the water temperature, which is very convenient. The bathhouse and toilet are separated by men and women, which is relatively clean. The hair dryer is of good quality. There is a public rest area where you can sit and eat takeout. The price is quite good in the center of Shanghai. It is super close to Jing'an Joy City, and it takes only five minutes to walk.
Hanting Hotel (Shanghai East Nanjing Road Metro Station)

Exit from metro line 2, exit 3, hotel just 100 metres away from subway escalator, very convenient. All staff carry out good service, especially Xiao Lin offered help do the laundry and drying so that we can rest early. Cleaner also did well to clean room, there is a few minutes electricity supply off during the stayed at midnight and 6am. Staff stand by at the corridor to make sure guests are feel secure and ready to offer help anytime. Awesome and excellent service from this hotel, recommend to stay!

Changshou Road Commercial Area
I’ve stayed at Hanting multiple times, I’m sure by now they know my face. A lot of hotels now don’t give amenities anymore so that is a no deal breaker. The location is perfect. Downtown but not too downtown where you will be stuck in traffic. There are many restaurants around by foot and by delivery. It’s so convenient to stay. Their rooms are spacious and have good lighting, especially the mirror light, (great for doing makeup). I will always stay there when I come to Shanghai. And I will recommend it to friends.

I think i was the first international traveler staying at this hotel, my pinyin is very basic, but with translation apps we could figure each other out. Just make sure with checkout you do not pay extra, because i already paid for everything including 12 nights , extra breakfast for 12 nights at arrival, the taxes and fee by check in with cash. Ask for a receipt note if possible. In China there is always everyday someone else at the receptionist. So there can be confusion. Toilet after 5 sheets, you must flush otherwise it will get clogged. noisy thin walls, but what hotels don't have thin walls, i could sleep well enough. I would skip the breakfast, it was more basic chinese food and almost everyday the same. I would suggest to give the chef more budget to buy some fruit, because i have only seen 1 time fruit. As a international traveler and for the local travelers including childeren we all like to have a fresh healthy breakfast, we all are willing to pay more for breakfast if the chef can have more passion instead of riceporridge, egg, dry bread, steamed bun, dumpling, vegetable bun, stirfry vegetable etc. I know for 15 yuan breakfast you cannot exept too much, shanghai is expensive. I am pretty sure that almost everyone is willing to pay 5 yuan more so that even for once we can see some fresh baked potato's or some stir fried rice. Everyone is friendly, but you need to know basic pinyin. I got a nice big hard bed that is good for your back with small window and big led tv including own bathroom. Its very clean. The hotels bed sheets replace once 2 to 3 days, this a good thing, because its better for the nature and saves water usage, energy and detergent. This hotel is better than a hostel, its somewhere between a high star hotel and a normal hotel. For solo travelers with basic pinyin i would recommend this hotel, but make sure you make picture of the cash payment and ask for a receipt note etc.
