I booked the best room type a month in advance and drove from Shanghai. When we arrived at the entrance of the scenic spot, a local brother Tong came to pick us up. The car stopped at the cultural lecture hall at the entrance of the homestay. The owner of the homestay, Mr. He, warmly entertained us and introduced us where to go for fun and some taboos. During dinner, we listened to his family story with relish. His grandfather was a descendant of Zhuge Liang. The three words "Danmingxuan" were handwritten by the famous scholar and calligrapher Mr. Chen Lifu. This village was unknown before 1992. It was a researcher from Tsinghua University who discovered that this was the gathering place of Zhuge's descendants and began to repair and protect it, which unveiled the mystery of this ancient village with a profound cultural heritage. During the chat, I learned that Brother Tong who brought us in was also a hero. When he was young, he served in Taizhou and saved four lives. His merits are immeasurable! My baby is less than three years old and likes the fish cakes here very much. He likes to play with Mr. and Mrs. He and keeps asking, "Where is uncle?"
