The restaurant has high quality ingredients, and good array of options, e.g. nigiri, sashimi, pork belly , miso cod, beef, and etc. The food program also has a paired beverage program, e.g. saki, which demonstrates its thoughtful intention on elevating the dining experience. That said, my son and I were underwhelmed by the overall execution. For example, the ginger, wasabi, seaweed, soy sauce were pedestrian . These are staple flavors of the Japanese palette, yet they weren’t given as much detail to the high quality seafood or even the rich, buttery sauces to complement the umami experience. Also, the rice in the nigiri and rolls was somewhat dry, which was disappointing. The food tasted good, just not exceptional, especially for the price. Finally, I noted the occasion was for my birthday, and at least 4 different service staff failed to acknowledge or even ask. When it was time for the bill, the service staff literally hovered over my shoulder waiting for me to hand him my credit card. And when it came time to transact, he mentioned the bill did not include service and even suggested a percentage and offered to enter it into the machine for me. I felt this was a bit aggressive and detracted from the service. As my son and I left the restaurant, we had to get our own jackets hanging by the door and let ourselves out. Overall, the food was good, just not exceptional. And the service could use some constructive feedback, which I just provided. Hopefully other customers will have improved experiences in the future.
